oh, of course, i absolutely agree. which is why, as a dom, beeing able to completely trust your sub (to know and, even more importantly, communicate their own boundaries) is just as important as the other way round. i dare say the fear of it going too far when you can't completely trust the other is, generally, at least just as big for the dom as for the sub.

still, while acting inside those boundaries, the dom does not only have the right to command, but also the ability to decide upon how the the game is played, possibly in ways that surprise the sub. it's at these times that trust is especially important, as the pre-set boundaries might not necessarily suffice anymore; but through this also that the dom gets to act on their real power, whereas the sub is still expected (even if obviously not obliged) to follow.
a lot of fulfillment for both sides can come from this kind of situations. that's why the dom, a good dom at least, is still the master ;]

Usually (if not going into real extremes), the sub should be the one defining the boundaries after which it becomes "no". The line that should not be crossed, everything before that being totally up to the other person(s?), but if you cross it the game is over.
At least that's how I see it, and in my eyes it's even more important in terms of dominance in a relationship.
