Yeah that was the kind of thing that was never great. I'm sure it takes a lot of effort to make it feel ok for not just different difficulties, but also different play styles, weapons and stuff, but enemies always feel like they are either useless insects or stomping giants.

That is a huge overhaul. What are your thoughts on it? I know there's a ton of stuffs there, but I'm interested in how you feel about the new perks that the author changed. And the combat module. I don't mind the old combat style.

I personally love the skill/perk changes, but so far I have only played a mage character.

I want to play a fist fighter next, since there's perks for that too.

The new perks are such an upgrade. I can't find myself disagreeing with anything. There could be improvements, yes, but I've yet to look at a tree and think "I liked Vanilla's better." Destruction isn't useless on high levels anymore. Speechcraft has my favorite changes of all, with upgrades to shouting and follower bonuses. But there's also the strange decision to merge two useless trees(lockpicking and pickpocket) into another useless tree(fingersmith). There is absolutely no reason to not get the main perk module, It's all profit.

On the combat module, I don't like how the enemies crush you like a bug on early levels. Taking an unblocked power atttack is nearly guaranteed to kill you. T3nd0 recommends TK dodge and I have to back it up so you have an alternative to blocking those crazy hits. On higher levels(20 and above) it works just fine.
Also, the new combat based on stamina would work better if stamina didn't run out so damn fast. I find Respite on the Restoration tree to be an absolute must.

On the plus side, combat is better defined. It used to be that no matter if it was a heavy armored fighter swiging craziliy at you, a mage with frost spells keeping you slowed down, or a sniper far away from you, they all ended up being just a nuisance that got your red bar down, so you took theirs faster. Now heavy armored players can still take on melee fighters, but the mage draining your stamina and keeping you rooted in place is going to make it pretty challenging. Or the one with crossbow, making all your armor amount to nothing. Casters will dread every encounter with Chaurus they have, due to their poison draining a lot of magicka, fast. It's definitely an improvement over Vanilla's mindless hack and slash. You may not get it if you don't want to, but that would make most of the new perks unnecessary. The mod gives you better tools to play a better game.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. Be warned though, it takes a while to get used to combat in the earlier levels. As mentioned in the quoted post you get absolutely decimated if you don't block / dodge hits and if you fight multiple opponents that can be pretty hard. However, with the community uncapper installed leveling is pretty quick and it sort of makes sense that you are a bit weak early on.

Overall I'm very happy about the changes in SkyRe and would always recommend using it, unless it's your first playthrough.

    Edit:
It appears there is a new version of SkyRe coming soon(ish), sometime mid january IIRC. So it might not be the best time to install it, as it's not 100% certain you will be able to update without starting a new savegame.

Obviously this only applies if you actually plan on updating to the newer version.

Tried this one but for some reason it keeps closing my game (not crashing) because I don't have a compatible version of SKSE since I have the latest one...

Also, playing a sneak character with SkyRE freaking sucks. But I've made the most of it.

For some reason I can't stand playing anything but a sneak archer in this game. I've made like 6 characters and every one of them starts out as something unique but ends up becoming sneak/archer by level 15 or so. Like, I made a mage character who was supposed to be focused on destruction (on the PS3); ended up going conjuration instead and focused exclusively on using my bound bow while sneaking everywhere.

I've been using cheatzorz to play other builds but I can't with SkyRE since I can't reset perks/have them refunded. That potion of respec you get with SkyRE is a bunch of bull.

What are you talking about? The potion works perfectly. Just wait a bit and you'll get your points.
And you can sneak just fine if you pair up sneak perks with illusion spells.

I wait it out until it says "points have been refunded". All my perks are gone and I have no points to put into anywhere. I wait 30 minutes. Nothing.

So without giving any spoilers, can any 360 people tell me if Dragonborn is comparable to Shivering Isles? (In how big/epic it is or whatever critieria you want to use).

Does anyone know a mod that adds carriage travel destinations for your manors(Hearthfire)? Im playing it with fast travel disabled for most immersion and it's getting a bit annoying having to run for so long to get to my house every time. It just doesnt make much sense that you can hire a carriage driver to your house and go everywhere from there but no one would take you back:P

It was good, but it was no Shivering Isles. Not enough new places/enemies.

I enjoyed it a lot during the past week. I just don´t know if it is comparable to Shivering Isles as that´s kinda subjective to be honest. Some would say that Dragonborn is better others say it its worse.

I liked the story behind it and I also loved the Apocrypha. There are lots of side quests and misc quests to occupy you for many hours. Also many cool new spells and powers (*spoiler* a daedra servant that carries your items and many more) so I would say it is worth every penny.

I just recently played the new ME3 DLC Omega and there you got maybe 4 hours worth of missions for 15 $ so I would say that Dragonborn is absolutely worth the price you pay for it (got at least 35 hours out of it so far)

Good to know. I'm gonna definitely be buying it when it's out on PC, whenever that happens.

Does anyone else think that vampirism is much too easy to cure? For me it kind of breaks immersion a little. I even tried to "accidentally" kill the one who cures it Dawnstar even though I normally dont murder anyone who doesn't attack me or doesn't need to be killed but she's marked as essential so no luck there.

They got it right with werewolf as it's still permanent to for everyone as normal werewolves wouldn't be killing a coven of witches, then getting a legendary axe and killing a giant spirit wolf. But with vamps it's like, hey, I want to spend a week as one and then get rid of it by just talking to this lady in Dawnstar.. if I like it, maybe I'll do it again when I get some time off. Having a hard to get, once in a blue moon cure for it is fine but if it's THAT easy to cure, I don't see why everyone wouldn't want to become a vampire, at least to try it out. No aging and winters in Skyrim shouldn't have much sun:P

I just remember it pissing me off in Oblivion and I didn't want to deal with it again.

i don't mind regular vampirism being easy to cure. the volkihar gift though should have been harder, because you're a completely different beast. as lord harkon says, as a regular vampire you're just someone that contracted a disease. the vampire lord is directly from molag bal himself, and multitudes stronger. even though you're just a half-breed form of it, it should still be much harder to remove it.

  17. #6177
Wait? You're in a state of vampire and that can be cured? O.o

How fucking retarded is that? o.O

Vampire is not a sickness or a condition, it's a state of being something ffs! I'd understand if it was the vampire-disease that eventually turns you into vampire that is to be cured but the outcome itself. Total absolute derp. Another great addition this consequence free game >.<

it's not a medicinal cure, even though normal vampires are just diseased. you have to use a filled black soul gem, and by the things he says in the chant, i'd say it's one of the daedra cures it. but i still think vampire lords should be harder to cure, something like molag bal stopping the cure all together, and you having to seek stronger methods. like direct contact with meridia or possibly azura.

It's still stupid. Curing vampire of vampirism is like curing human from being a human.

well, you're working with gods. i'd say a god could cure anything it wants to of whatever it wants to.
