anyone know where i can check my character and see what current gear he got and what upgrades i can get in the future ?

Well the easiest place to look is:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/ - just search for your character.

Just put in your character info and it will tell you what to upgrade and what to do it with Once you hit "Optimize" there is a Shopping List button off to the right to tell you what you need to buy to optimize

Once you set up a toon, you will get another screen to work with:

First click the Optimize button and it will bring you to a new screen (shown above) and on the right you will see STATS and Shopping List. When you click on shopping list, it will tell you every item you need to get for your enchants and upgrades.
