As long as he doesn't pull any jar jar binks's the films will probably be great imo.

There will be a Jar Jar-esque character, and any and all violence will be downplayed to cuddling like activities, or killing more robots. Everything about Star Wars is simply for selling toys and other merchandise to children. It's a pipe dream to expect the lore to be expanded upon and a riveting story to come out of the next trilogy. Just something to inspire Disney world to add some new rides and sell a fuck load of toys/games/every product in the world.

Anyways not sure how I feel about this. We have a die hard trekkie making a Star Wars movie. I worry it may be tainted by his fanboy bias.
He's actually more of a Star Wars guy then a Trekkie. He said that he would prefer to do a Star Wars movie over Star Trek, but since he couldn't he did Star Trek. I'll try to find the link.

But anyways its been 100% confirmed.

Am I the only one who wasn't bothered by Jar Jar? He was just another character to me and definitely didn't piss me off as much as Anakin.

Yes, yes you are. Then again, compared to Anakin...

I didn't really care one way or the other. There's always stupid comic relief characters in Star Wars films (Cough C3-P0), it's just they're not usually THAT bad. I'm guessing that there will be a character like that, just not quite so annoying.

Anakin on the other hand needs to burn... oh wait, he did

Why can't they just make a KOTOR trilogy? I'd throw my money at that soooooo hard.

The Hobbit is a great movie, it may not be the book but a great movie nonetheless
If its "the hobbit" then it should damm well be "the hobbit" otherwise it fails.

And even putting that to one side, it was slow and boring and lost all the charm of the original book. It just screams commercialisation > integrity.

Disney owns Marvel, and im pretty sure there isn't any singing in any of their live action films.

I'm sick of people acting like they don't know what they are doing and they will turn Star Wars into Mickey Mouse Space Sing-Along. Disney isn't perfect but they have done some great stuff in the past, and that includes their animated films which adults and children enjoy greatly.

Besides Lucas already screwed up Star Wars more than any other company could so I don't mind them having their go.

If you want an idea of what it will look like, look at Star Trek and the Marvel movies not the animated ones since they make them for different target audiences.

Stop assuming Disney is a bunch of retards that don't know who the target star wars audience is.

How can you go wrong with a hairless rasta space donkey?
No, it's a shame they didn't show Anakin cutting down Jar Jar in Episode 3. >

But then people would've been confused. "Was Anakin really evil afterall? He DID kill Jar Jar."

The thing about Star Wars is that IV, V and VI were all "innovative, fresh and breathtaking", and I, II and III were just action flicks, in quality about as good as John Carter or the newest Indiana Jones - they could even have some kick ass moments, like Samuel L Jackson or Liam Neeson, but overall they were just... meh. I like part III the best, but just because of nice fight scenes and asshole stuff Anakin did, nothing spectacular.

To make movie on par with the original trilogy (without Ewoks, those were just fucking stupid) you need to find a way to spurise the audience like Lucas did. Create a living world, interesting characters, expand Jedi philosophy, show Siths a bit less like "the ultimate evil", but as a whole society. Everything it takes to make a long, passionate movie. It sure won't be as good as the original trilogy, but would still be better than those poorly written fanfictions showed in I or II.

The thing is, director of "Cloverfield" may be just not enough to make it happen. I would love to see Peter Jackson as a director of "Star Wars", and it's a shame it won't happen.

He's proven himself a really good director (star trek) so this looks very bright for the new star wars. Now hire some good writers and make a star wars film worthy of the franchise.

The writer of Toy Story 3 and Little Miss Sunshine is the writer so I would say JJ Abrams will deliver the sci-fi epic feel to it (Star Trek) and Michael Arndt, the writer, will deliver to heart and humane aspects to it.

Exactly. If he keeps doing that shit, it'll ruin the movie for me.

Otherwise he's a pretty good director.
