    Wireless Router Purchasing Advice

    Hello,

I seem to be limping along my current wireless router. It's an old Netgear WGR614. Works fine when plugged in but the wireless has temper tantrums ever once in a while requiring several resets to get the speed back up to where it should be.

I figure it's probably time for something new. What would be a decent router for around $100. I could go a little higher but would prefer to be under.

    Thanks!

We have a standard NETGEAR for our modem but for wireless we are using a D-LINK. So I would say NETGEAR for anything wired and D-LINK for anything wireless. As for the actual brand I have no opinions other than the current one we have which is DIR-615, but that might be a bit old for now so ;P

In all honesty I HATE any home router other than Linksys. I've installed several brands for various people/purposes but nothing is as easy and simply labeled for an IT guy than Cisco. It could just be my preference, but it is all I will ever use.

Problem is that a lot of Cisco home routers are absolutely horrible. Just horrible. The Asus routers are pretty great, and I currently use the Netgear N900 which I found at Costco for ~130. It was worth it, the thing is awesome.
