Yeah correct. it was that MBA student I gave a D Minus on his analysis.

Skylanders was just "trivial" and COD was old. WOW would loose massively (6 million in no time), Diablo didn't sell beyond 10 million after its launch and Activision was a sinking ship.

I think if he hands in his papers now, he can forget his study year already.

I remember what I said when reading his stuff ...: it is these kinds of "analists" that cost us our savings all the time...

Yes there was a post about ATVI stock that was to do with long term performance of ATVI this gain in no way proves the prediction right or wrong.

Yeah it could easily turn around and tank 30% next week because suddenly investors get "scared". See it happen all the time lol

I wouldnt invest a cent in activision blizzard. They are just milking, its for now but I doubt it will in the longer term. Blizzard lost its edge competitor are starting to do as well or better now.

has everything to do with D3 sales and profit and upcoming titles like HotS. Nothing to do with WoW.

You don't seem to understand what it means ... to be ... the ONLY one left with multi milllions subscriptions. What matters is what's under the global income line, not Zynga like 80 million player games ...

Shrug, it is why I gain money and you post on forums I guess...

Well Palmz, I can say I'm more rich today than I was yesterday .
    I bet! Grats man!

What is stock worth per share right now, if you don't mind me asking? I might invest in 100 or so today If it's not too ludicrous.

What has Zynga got to do with ATVI? Do you think that if ATVI performs badly stock holders will satisfied with it is not performing as badly as Zynga?

WoW is still the top grossing game and it has been for 8 years. It will continue to be the top grossing game of 2013 by hundreds of millions of dollars. With new projects in the near future, I only see stock rising, not falling.

13.41 I believe, I'm terrible at stock reasons while I have a stock broker that does everything for me.

Too late, I am selling at 14.5. Half of it. The other half I wait until the end of the year.

Not bad. I should of invested in Apple when my father did. Back when it was only 10 dollars a share O_O. Sadly he only bought 50 or so. Just to think if he purchased 200+. Would of been a great retirement plan for him.

Well 2012 NASDAQ had 2 giant crashing stocks. (apart from the usual things to happen).

    ZYNGA and Facebook.

Both succeded in losing massively after a much hyped introduction because ... it was ... the internet fad and the sky would be the limit with all these hundreds of millions of users.

As it turned out: Zillions of users doesn't mean ... it can be monetised.

EA jumped with 2 feet in this F2P stuff and stood in the fire too.

Of course you STILL can make money, but simply not as people thought they could make money by yelling "we have a zillion players/users".

In the meantime ATVI stayed clear and out of these FREE to PLAY thingies on Ipads and other markets.

Golden boy and CEO of ATVI had it right again: it is better to have a steady flow of income like subscriptions than go in and jump with two feet into this free to play and cheap internet play.

    ---

That's in short what is happening these days: HARDWARE related computer toys (Skylanders) and fixed subscriptions make steady money streams. Free to play not so much.

I have been saying this all the time when discussing this subscription thing over the past few weeks. F2P is a lousy idea to make steady money streams. WOW subs need to be discussed within the INDUSTRY and have very little to do with in game measures...

I was even banned for derailing the subs discussion by making it wide open to the industry instead of "answering "nerving issues and stupid CRZ thingies...

Glad to have had my revenge.

I think of the stock market as a game of chance, like the lottery or casino. All money talk is like a game of chance you could lose more than spend or gain more than you spend.

I had stock in RIM (Research In Motion) I was hinted to sell my stock this was before they collapsed & I gotta a good month long vaction outta it and I just re bought stock before its rises again as they are back on there feet.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that following four high profile releases ATVI is going to perform well financially. I fail to see how ATVI's performance is some kind of vengeance on your part for not following the forum's rules.

Because I was putting the meaning of subscriptions into a broader discussion of the MMORPG (and gaming) industry turning free to play I was banned yes. It was a disgrace because people still think that a subscription loss or gain has to be seen in relation to nerfs or CRZ or whatever.

it is not related. The general markets have a much bigger impact on subscriptions and that market changes (again). F2P is no longer equal to earning money with heaps and the "sky is the limit" with exclaiming " we have zillions of players/people using our tools".

Zynga and Facebook showed "zillions of people" is not equal to a money stream of REAL paying clients (be that hardware related toys or paid subscriptions). Now I know Facebook as such is more complicated than that, but time and space preclude me of going to deep into this subject in what is a trivial gaming site...

It was not the subscription numbers that were responsible for ATVI's strong financial performance if anything they back up the theory that WOW is now on a slow but inevitable decline.

But Zynga has nothing to do with ATVI it operates in a completely different market and similar to the dotcom bubble of the nineties investors were going to seize on the opportunity to make a quick buck off of a new market.

The only thing I have to say is that you can't have it both ways. When the stock goes up, you can't say that Blizzard had nothing to do with it if you're the first to say that it's all the fault of World of Warcraft when the stock goes down. I'm quite sure that there are many here that would say EXACTLY the opposite thing if the stock had dropped today.
