China is not measurable in terms of subs so the people-taking-part stat is malleable and used accordingly.

Blizzard haven't said what a number in their total subs entails, so take that total with a massive pinch of salt. Total players (subs) could be 5-6 million and we wouldn't know.

That's not a sub that should figure in total subs, a subscription means a reoccurring MONTHLY payment if the business model is to pay per month. IE you can't pay for a week or a day.

Just a wild guess, but China has passed harsh new restrictions on Internet cafes, banning minors and demanding operators register users and keep records of what information they access on line in November.

Oh, and MoP launched in China on October 2nd.

Bottom line is the amount of money they make, not the number of subscriptions. Shareholders don't care whether 10 million profit comes from 10 million people or 8 million people...
