    New gaming computer freezes randomly

Hello , I have a custom made computer and last 3 weeks ago my computer froze the first time when I was playing skyrim and I had to hold the power button to shut it down.
Since then this problem occures a lot more and I don't know how to fix this.
    It happens randomly.

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Processor: AMD FX-8150 eight core processor 3.60 GHz
    RAM: 8gb ram
Grapichs Card: AMD Radeon HD 7800 series

If I had to guess, it's probably heat related or power issues.

  3. #3
Could you please post all the hardware you got? INCLUDING the manufacturer and product name for each, "8gb ram" or "AMD Radeo HD 7800 series" isn't much to start solving a problem.

That is not an SSD, which drive are you running your OS from?

An SSD is a type of harddisk, only a faster one.

How are your rams put in? Side by side or 1 space 1 space

It's probably most definitely the power supply being overworked. 600w is a bit low for a monster gaming rig, especially since most 500-650W PSU are partitioned off into 1 400W/1 250W within the same unit.

Look into a 800-1000WPSU and make sure its a full time 700W+ for the first partition if it is in fact, partitioned.

You can see what yours is by opening up your rig and looking at the side of the PSU, it will look something like this:

it's probably getting a bit overworked.

if not this, I would say possibly your cooling unit. Make sure you put enough thermal paste on your CPU. go into your BIOS and make sure THE CPU is running cool, not just the temperature of your comp. corsair H60 or H80 are super affordable and keep mah rig COOOOOL

You have to be careful asking that now. I don't know if it's a laptop only thing, but apparently some companies are making "Hybrid SSDs". Your average person would say yes to that question because the box says it. :P

His CX600 is plenty to power his current rig.

That doesn't matter since the follow up question would be which model it is.

Most computers won't ever come close to needing more than 500-550w with a single GPU. Its when you start adding more that you begin to have power issues. That 600w is way more than enough, with probably about 150w of its potential 600 being unused. I doubt it's the PSU, unless its a dud.

Check thermal paste, like has been said. Reseat your RAM and graphics card. Also, use a driver cleaner application to completely remove your current AMD video drivers. Go back and reinstall them after that, after downloading a fresh copy from amd.com.

If you actually bothered looking up anything you would know his entire computer pulls very little wattage. Even the strongest "monster gaming rigs" nowadays don't pull 1000w.

Much less an FX-8150 and single 7850. -.-

Older gen DirectCU II GPUs required a lot more power, for example my GTX 580 DirectCU II needs 300W, so I got myself 750W, which might be an overkill, but why not, only like 30€ difference and PSU might last longer since it's not stressed as much.

What does the cooler on your card have to do with power usage?
