I gave Citizen Kane a try, after being suggested it by many, many people. I ended up falling asleep 30 minutes in and don't even remember anything from when I was watching it. Gone With the Wind was just plain boring. I tried to give Vertigo a try but I ended up turning if off after a bit.
So far, my experience with vintage movies has not been good. I just can't watch them.
Sleepy time for filly Woona.
They are very different. When I was younger, I had troubles with vintage movies too, because there is a loooot of talking and very little action in like 80% of them.
But then again, if they talk about something you really enjoy, it's not that bad. Like Tarentino; in Pulp Fiction there's a lot of talk, but the dialog is (opinions ahead) amazing, so you don't really mind. But if you don't like what they talk about in the vintage movies (Where the movie medium was pretty much about dialog and story (this imho changed around the 70's)) then it can be hard to like 'em.
If I've watched Dr. Strangelove even 3 years ago, I wouldn't have liked it. But now, with my passion for the cold war and the post-apocalyptic, it was one of the best movie's I've seen in a long time, because I could really relate to what they were saying, even though they were doing nothing but saying it over and over again.
