They had dallies since launch numbnuts. This patch only improved them by a factor of 10. I like being able to have a large cross section of goals to do. Very easy to finish during normal leveling and easy do to finish at 80 if you wish.

Likewise, someone had also commented that GW2 needs to quit adding new currencies to the game that force certain playstyles. They already have a fantastic currency in place (karma) that allows you to play as you like and buy things, which they've chosen not to build upon in lieu of adding new types of currencies. It was something else I hadn't thought about, but he's right.
But I get laurels AND karma... At the same time... Because I do the same stuff I normally would, only difference is I do my events/killing in the areas specified because, lets face it, I'm one of those people more than happy to change stuff up and stray from one of my favorite zones to hang out in to explore something else if given the proper nudge.

And karma is a lot more restrictive than the laurels, I got my laurels the last 2 days via WvW/dungeons, if I wanted karma I'd have to be doing events.

Obviously it depends on the player. I've found most of the dailies over the past month (last two days withstanding) an inconvenience to complete. Previously, I wouldn't have bothered because all I'd be missing out on was some karma, EXP, and perhaps a Mystic Coin, but as I said ever since they added a currency to doing them that can be exchanged for top of the line gear I've felt obligated to do them.

Since I never do WvW and almost exclusively do DEs karma flows like the waters of the Nile, so it'd be nice if there were more worthwhile things I could do with it.

The daily in GW2 is so far removed from the linear, gear gated behind rep before you can do the content experience in WoW as to not even be in the same category.

The daily in GW2 is an open ended, worldwide, non-linear experience. For instance, 50 kills. You can do these kills in any combination of the 24 zones, 25 dungeon paths, 10 fractals, WvW, sPvP, countless mini-dungeons and jumping puzzles or whereever you like, on whatever toon you like or even combination of toons!

They throw in a couple to say Hey! Try this aspect of the game - if you want to. (like score some Keg Brawl points or do a jumping puzzle)

Doing the daily in GW2 is basically "Did you login and play for a little bit? Cool - have a daily reward."

I'll have to agree with this. I got two daily rewards yesterday (since it resets 6pm local), and all I was doing was working on the refugee stuff while closing portals and looking for the 2 lost and found items. In fact, I never once even looked at what was available as a daily.

The daillies in GW2 are pretty good in they are very flexible, on the other hand the monthy is not and regardless of flexibility they are there for the same old reason, content buffer / grind / gear treadmill, they introduced a gear treadmill in Nov and that treadmill will only get bigger / longer, which is in stark contrast to the years of interviews / Q&A / blog posts wher they stated people would not be forced on to a gear treadmill to remain as powerful, progression would be in cosmetic, GW2 would be different, the reality is it is just another WoW clone (Or if you prefer just another EQ clone, like WoW is, with all the interesting things like public dungeons removed, that actually make an MMO an MMO rather than a glorified co-op).

Actually, GW2 is just another Pong-Clone, only that Pong was way better balanced and achieving something in Pong felt way more rewarding.

March's monthly is the best they've had so far (no dungeon/PvP requirements), but if you mean in terms of choices to fulfill then I agree. I'm actually rather confused by it because I swear they've been saying all along that the monthlies were going to offer choices same as dailies.

It's true that most dailies are completed during play but never have I completed them just by playing there is always one or two that require hunting of some description. Not only that but sometimes I log in for half an hour and I'll not have them done, In wow style I can log in for half an hour and do the ones I want. I don't think either offer anything compelling other than mundane tasks for rewards. Carrot chasing at it's most boring. Guild wars 2 should never have or them
    in
This patch has helped but it's still the same old lifeless tick box kill 10 boars.

So the crafting stuff for the Monthly... erhhhh. Maybe I didn't read it right but I'm gonna have to level a profession until I can make a green item? And then craft 40 of it?
    That's just... KMN.

Also didn't they say they were removing "tiers" in daily/monthly achievements?

Well, there's low level greens also, so it's more level a bit of whatever, then make a bunch of that one item.

While I could swear that was said, it may have just been Daily for the "no tiers" and "pick which you want" stuff.

It's kind of hard to put company paid PR spin on that, though. Easier just to cast it aside while still spouting page after page of endless praise. Should've been obvious when he was beating Mif to the punch on press-releases, with full page commentaries no less, that Karizee's a plant.

Well, I decided to try the chest farming thing since I have 5 level 80s. Oi. I have had a Hell of a time just doing the events on my own server. I don't even know where/how people find the time to guest on other servers for events. Frozen Maw & Fire Elemental alone will keep anyone with multiple alts busy.

So far nothing fantastic. I figure I've made about 2g today in rares since most of them sell for less than 30s now. It's at least more interesting than farming Cursed Shores, though the cost of traveling between them all sucks.

I did this today on 2 servers for the Shadow Behemoth. Figured it'd be a good way to get the Krytan thing done and get some easy chests. Worked out okay, but I only knew to guest on a friend's urging.

There is this to keep track: http://guildwarstemple.com/dragontimer/

I was told it was accurate. Can't say I have used it much personally. Maybe it might help you though.

They should add in more huge group events like those (well more events in general in my opinion)

Yea, maybe. I wish events were more consistent.

For example, I made a new Guardian for low level dailies and there were barely any events in Wayfarer. Just the same old bear shrine one and rampaging minotaurs. Didn't run into any other events.

Maybe there were more. But you wouldn't know that either since you can only see events in the area around you- so there are effectively no events for a player at times.

the new event scaling they have is...interesting

just had a normal event with 4 champions and 15 veterans, and then you add in the pve culling and yeah...not fun

I've been using the dragon timer, it's somewhat accurate. Are dragon chests the only ones that drop exotics? Just wondering why people seem to put a priority on them.

As for Wayfarer Foothills, I know on my server the Ulfred escort has been breaking a lot. I haven't seen the snow leopard escort/rescue in forever. Likewise with the Jotun events that used to spawn just outside of the bear shrine. I used to always do my daily circuit there, but it's just not as effective anymore with so many MIA events. You're better off going to Queensdale.

I think they are tracked because they have a more reliable timer than the others. But there are many events with the large chests w/a chance at exotics. Off the top of my head:

    Jormag
    Shatterer
    Sunless
    Maw
    Shadow Behemoth
    Fire Elemental - Metrica
    Grenth
    Lyssa
    Balthazar
    Dwyana
    Melandru
    Path to Arah
    Zho’qafa Catacombs
    Giant Jungle Wurm - Caledon
    Harathi Overlord
    Inquest Golem Mark II
    Hydra Queen - Bloodtide Coast
2nd Fire Elemental - Iron Marches

There's tons more, my circle has been working on scouting them out.

Yeah, I loved that. It was hilarious running into an event while waiting around for Teq and seeing a bunch of dead or dying bodies because of overconfidence. The event still are fairly easy, just need to pay a bit of attention instead of rolling your face on the keyboard.

Just today I got a couple of named exotics out of a splendid chest in Harathi Hinterlands. Got me 25 g in sale. I think those chests can be looted more than once per day. Only the Dragon chests can't be done more than once per character. Strangely enough, I've gotten no exotics from any of the Dragon chests, but plenty of rares. Easily the most money I've made farming in the game over the past few days. It is only a matter of time before inflation hits the TP hard.
