Another empty city for bankers? Why bother?

The Alliance win? There's the real reason we'll never see it happen.

I realize I'm cynical, but I'm still extremely skeptical about their claims that 5.4 and the actual Siege is going to be Alliance driven. I still expect it to be a major Horde victory to reclaim their city and depose a dictator.

For me the argument that the night elves can't reclaim Ashenvale because Horde players need a quest area is a load of bull. Reclaiming Stromgarde is a load of bull. they don't have to redesign entire zones, just specific areas and Ashenvale is already pretty much done. Just take the original Silverwing Post, etc, and restore them for players (at least Alliance after their quest chains) after a certain point through phasing.

They have a powerful tool with phasing, but they seem unwilling/reluctant to use it in places that would make the most sense.

But then again, Sentinel Hill is still on fire and under attack by the new Defias, so......

Silverpine forest would be a bloodbath. That sounds awesome, but no.

The Battle of Bloody Kithi...er Silverpine. (not sure how many will get it)

I don't get why we're helping Voljin and that in their rebellion now with out getting ANYTHING back.

    Alliance should:

    A) Only agree to help if we get Silverpine and Ashenvale back at the VERY least and all Horde pull out of them without battle. (Maybe Hillsbrad too). This way Gilneas and Darnassus get something from the battle.

    B) Say we'll come and help, then as soon as Siege on Ogrimar starts we do a U-Turn and conquer the rest of Eastern Kingdoms while the Horde can do NOTHING to defend themselves there.

I wouldn't want to sacrifice an entire new zone for it but it would be nice to have reason to be there, seems like alot of wasted effort designing something so good for such brief usage.

I'd be fine with losing a zone or different content for an ongoing evolution of the story.

That to me is the perfect idea of story telling in an MMO. A world always progressing.

Just ask yourself, What's the point? What would be there? and would you even go there otherwise? It's a waste of resources :P

I'm a big fan of the gilnean architecture. I love the feel of the place.

Was the quest chain that lead into Zul'Gurub heroic a waste of resources? Some would argue it was, but it's an example of what they need to do to complete any of the Alliance reclamations. They just phase one spot. In Arathi, you just phase the area from the wall to Stromgarde and update those and all's good (and there can be Horde storyline too as their questing could be defeat in Arathi, pulling back, but stopping the Alliance advance in Hillsbrad).

Plus, think about how Stranglethorn was still a low level quest zone, but those specific areas were phased for max level players without interfering with low level characters. It's definitely something they could pull off without redesigning entire zones.

Personally, the huge frickin' wall seems like a logical place for a border between Alliance and Forsaken. I'd have suggested more adjustments to the zone to link Arathi and Hinterlands back during the Cata redesign and cut off Hillsbrad somewhat so the Wildhammer aren't cut off and prime for invasion, but at this point that would be a bit much.

I'd prefer new zones, but would like to see old zones get small "section updates" with phasing triggered by things like Scenarios, quests, etc.

It seems that opinions are divided on this matter, so why not make Gilneas a "token" city, such as Darkspear hold and the reclaimed gnomeregan? An inn and a mailbox, a few vendors and guards

Why can't it come back in a minor content patch (a la 5.1 and 5.3) as a persistent battleground or a PVP centric daily zone? This is bullshit about having to give up a new zone. They never finished the Worgen starting experience and they refuse to admit it.

No wonder alliance doesn't have gilneas.
What do you mean 3rd, 4th time we killed his replica? They mentioned this once when the event at the end of WotLK happened. And it was just an explanation as to why we go there at level 80 when we've already killed them at low level. A similar explanation was used for Zalazane.

Let's see before cataclsym we hunted down his replica, Pre-cata event there was a new scenerio where we oh look kill his replica and then after cata we kill his replica again in the dungeon.

It took you 9 years to kill 3 of his robots and you think you can have gilneas? Ha!

You don't kill any replica of him in the Gnomeregan event, you get lured into a trap and then retreat. You don't even face him in person. And in Cataclysm there is no indication that the players going into the dungeon and killing him are actually killing a replica. If you're basing this on the Gnomes not having retaken Gnomeregan yet, then you're ignoring that this is simply because of Blizzard not completely updating this. Why did we fight Princess Theradras in Vanilla, at the Cataclysm event, and then again in Cataclysm in the dungeon? Obviously we defeated a replica twice, right? And she is still there, so even the third one was a replica, huh?

id actually love to see gilneas puffed up with new content, regardless if it makes sense lorewise or not.

If anything, rebuilding Silvermoon and integrating it along with the spacegoat ship into the real Azeroth should be devs #1 priority when it comes to waste resources on this kind of staff. Gilneas is a battleground, live with it.

So two zones that were completed and their story actually resolved are priority over one that seems to be left dangling or for Alliance players was completely nonexistent?

Or is it an issue if Gilneas were revamped a bit, that would be Alliance content and less for Horde and we can't have that? Honestly, this is kind of how the Alliance feels Blizzard views development time.

True that's a silly logic, by that logic any dungeon and raid boss would be a replica then.
OT: I would like to see the worgen go back and rebuild Gilneas.

There can still be a battleground even if the Alliance retakes it.
