I've owned both nVidia and AMD cards the past 10 years. Radeon X600, GTS 8600, GTS 250, GTX 560 Ti and now a 7970 (to mention some). I have never stumbled upon any issues at all besides the ones I created myself (usually refering to instability while overclocking, or installing and re-installing drivers back-to-back without proper measures).

    I've used

    Radeon 9000
    9800GTX+
    HD 7950

Other than the R9000 being shite (try gaming on an HD 7350, I dare you), I've had no issues. Mainly because I update drivers about once a year because I am lazy like that, and thus don't get any of the rare yet annoying things where a brand new driver turns off the fan controller on the card and toasts the GPU processor (like an nVidia driver did a couple of years ago).

yeah as I said on the iirc I haven't seen it till just now I don't like the design of it but I'm sure it will attract people that like the "gamer" look.

    1. The top of the case is curved, can't put a plate on it
    2. Top mounted PSUs make cases bastards to carry due to being top-heavy
    3. Front panel looks like a Dell or HP type system from 5-6 years ago, really tacky.

If this is the flagship model...they better sail back home.
What he said, I don't like it at all :/

Passively cooled 7850! I like passively cooled things, kinda reminds us how much power/heat we use and keeps use from using too much. A totally passively cooled machine would be...cool...but not just cool but passively cool .

It's the Raven-version not the fortress-version. So no, it's not the flagship model.

Although I'm less interested in them now than I was two months ago (because I've got my entire entire build thought out apart from new GPU depending on their strengths and for case I wanted something more silent), they are still quite good. They won't replace any case, or the older ones. Just supplement. I don't see much of an issue, tbqh.

That's a damned impressive price. No GTX 680 could even come close to that value for $.

pretty sure both of those deals were pretty damm rare aswell.
maybe i'd consider the 7970 if it were to overclock really well. (still i'd be pissed with new game release performance being sucky)

But as we have so many times come to realize, euros translate pretty evenly to dollars when talking about computer parts. 333 euros is about 333 dollars.

That's fine and all, but I still feel like the 7970 is a better card.

Linus, while he has not been comparing the 7970 to the 680, rather the 670, is showing the 7970, and the AMD cards in general, are a bit ahead of NVidia in several games.

Not to mention, AMD gives you voltage unlocking from the get-go. :P
