No Las Venturas. Only Los Santos and the surroundings of that. :3

One issue I have had with the GTA series, since 3 I guess, is that cars are too cheap and easy to come by. That might not sound like a bad thing, but it is. It means even cool ones have little value. The issue is you could take a car, spend time on customization and a second later, t-bone someone. It doesn't matter though because there's tons more of it and you can just literally pick a new one up anywhere.

It would be neat if they changed this formula so it was actually hard to steal a car. When you managed to carjack a nicer car it was actually a bit of an achievement and it paid off to keep them in decent condition for more than 30 seconds. Then stuff like mod shops would matter too.

I think they are doing something like this. If I can recall they are making every vehicle unique. Like if you see two cars that are the same type one might be better at handling and the other will be faster. Something like that, and also you can upgrade cars that you have at the mod shop and since money won't be like in previous games where you can enter a cheatcode and become a billionaire, the mods you make to your car will mean something since you will have to work harder to get them.

Looks like a lot of fun. Most of the GTA games have been. I'm hoping one of these days we get to create our own characters though.

You wont be needing to use money cheats in this one tho, the heist will literally give you millions in money. :3

Never had any performance issues with it myself although we did have someone run it on a machine with 1gb ram at a LAN, had to turn the graphics down so far the buildings, pavements and roads were all the same colour.

I think they said that they wanted to make money matter in this game. It will be harder to ear them, the game will not just throw them at you like in other GTAs. That's what I recall at least.

Naa, more like they are adding a lot of stuff for you to spend them on.

"Money is more important than ever

But so what? You pull of a heist, and then... add it to the millions of dollars you already have, because cash comes cheap in Grand Theft Auto games? Well, hold on--in GTA V, things are different. Rockstar told us that money is extremely important this time around, more so than ever in GTA game. Your cash can be spent on some of the things it's always been used for, like new clothing, weapons, and vehicles--but everything is customizable.

You can upgrade your weapons, adding new parts to them in order to find the gun that perfectly suits the character (or the heist, if you're planning for the future). Pay 'n' Sprays have been upgraded as well, allowing you to change your cars when you stop by. You'll also be able to buy and upgrade buildings and businesses, creating an ecosystem where it's actually worth making money. Want a helicopter? Good--buy a helipad first. What, you were going to land it on the street? Were you raised in a barn?"

GTA V is to be set in fictional Los Santos (wikipedia or every other gta page in the internetz).
GTA V's world is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV combined. Areas in the game world include beach fronts, mountains, the wilderness, a "Salton Sea" region, a military base and the suburbs. The ocean floor is fully detailed and can be explored.

I'm guessing you didn't understand what I was asking about; He said "No Las Venturas." I haven't seen that written anywhere, and I'm hoping it'll be in the game like it was with San Andreas.

Just because they haven't written about it yet doesn't mean they won't add it in the game. Hence the request for a source.

Interview with Dan Houser on IGN
Doing other cities just didn't seem appealing. Doing small towns is very appealing. There's a bunch of small towns and villages and whatnot in there to discover and play around in. Doing other cities, though, felt like it was going to create problems we didn't need. It wasn't going to add to the experience. Of course you could do a game with a bunch of cities now that could be pretty interesting, but we didn't think that was going to be this game. This map is going to be spectacular to people when they start exploring and playing around with it.

Mye indeed. But nothing from the previews and screenshots seems to indicate anything other then this.

We are very proud to officially announce that Grand Theft Auto V is in full development.

Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created.

A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California.
