What's going to happen to the Ashbringer when Tirion drops dead?

    The current wielder: http://www.wowpedia.org/Tirion

    What it is: http://www.wowpedia.org/Ashbringer

I would presume such a powerful item isn't going to be given to the Alliance or Horde when Tirion finally croaks. Do you think we'll see it be used again in the lore or have it be kept within the Argent Crusade's hands? ( Spoiler: Tirion is old. ) I don't see it returning to surface unless we got another Scourge-themed expac.

One of two things will happen. Either it'll be buried with him, or be the weapon of the Crusade's leaders.

I'd assume it would stay with the Argent Crusade. Regardless it's not like it came from space, it was made by a dwarf so someone else could just make a better one.

We will claim it in the name of our chapter master.

Would you use it against the Burning Legion? Since Wrathion seems to elude to the return. Will it work against the demons as well?
If so I think He/It may be a pivotal key to the future plot.

you know...assuming that the burning legion does return.

If Anduin would somehow become a paladin/disciple of Tirion then he would be the most logical choice.

But seeing as Tirion has no intention to drop dead (As his ass still lives in Cataclysm), I wouldn't see Blizzard creating another character to become the new Ashbringer

When the time comes where Tirion is claimed by the master of death, blizzard will find a way to make Ashbringer a legendary reward of a horribly hard, long, and painful quest line which will test the player's skill and only 1%~ or less of the playerbase will wield.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA! one can only wish. Tirion will live forever.

Sadly Tirion is the only high profile paladin atm and he is kinda old. Lets face it wow needs at least one famous male human paladin. I'd be disgusted if the weapon fall into hands of any other race esp horde ones.

While i haven't read any WoW books we haven't really seen Ashbringer at all.
Sure, he wields it but thats about it.
In the Lich King fight he was close to useless and apart from him being an NPC in Cata we haven't really see him use his power?
Maybe the dumbass that currently leads the Alliance dies in the Garrosh fight and we'll have Tirion as a replacement, that would be cool.

Going by tales of the past 3 (go watch this if you haven't, really) the sword binds to the killer of the current wielder.
Now, WoW has a somewhat different take on the matter but that would make for the more interesting route i guess.
I hope it'll be a character we actually see, not some random Crusade dude that didn't go outside of random capital x for 3 years.

Because no one else can be trusted with that power. Remember what happened to Alexandros Mograine.

And it can't be safe kept by the Argent Crusade? Burying it won't do diddly unless it's protected in the same fashion, and destroying it would be a better option if people fear the power it contains. Let alone the undead are still "alive and kicking", who knows when it would be needed again.

He should FedEx it to Bolvar before he dies. "Thanks for wearing the helm dude!"

He was killed by his own son? Not sure what point you were trying to make here.

A chosen person will rise up to meet the requirements to wield the Ashbringer. Basically some random in the ranks will be the one to wield it, they will probably go through some type of trial that tests their faith in the light and tests their resolve. That or they will step up in Tirions time of need and they will risk their life for what they believe and it will leave an impression on Tirion.

Something like that, if not it will be locked away until one who is worthy enough to wield it shows themselves.

Judging by current trends in Warcraft lore, it will be given to Sunwalker Dezco or Lady Liadrin.
