Question about bidding on BMAH

Say there's a rare mount up on the BMAH and the current bid is 500k gold. Do I have to bid 525k because that's 5% more than the current bid, or can I bid anything I want as long as it's higher than 525k? for example 999k? the reason would be because I don't care about gold and I want to guarantee that I get that mount.

You can bid as high as you like, as long as it's at least 5% higher than the previous bid. So yes, bidding 999k would work.

To make sure no one gets screwed over by your post, since it gives an approximation that if someone used, they could get outbid, the actual number you'd have to bid to not be outbid is 952,381g.

950k would allow someone to bid 997.5k or higher to outbid you.

Anything is worth that much to someone who wants it bad enough. Considering how many players have hit the gold cap several times over, 952k isn't that much money.

Usually people bid the cap to make sure they get mounts like Invincible.

However, I've seen Heroic raid gear go for that much and also T3 when it first came out.

Invincible was on our BMAH last week, the bid with over 2 hours to go was 603k, and while I didn't see the final bid, I suspect it went close to the cap.

Edit: Undermine Journal says it went for 999,999g as I suspected.
