Free Blizzard Tokens per month to subscribers?

Do you think Blizzard should give free Blizzard Tokens to the game's subscribers? Maybe around 5 euros/dollars per month or so?

This will keep some subscribers from unsubbing (e.g. they can work on getting some store mounts in a few months) and its gonna be no loss at all for Blizzard since store money is just bits and bytes for them.

Ofc anyone who wants can pay for more store stuff...

    ---

We already pay a subscription, why don't we get a few freebies if we are subscribed for a long time?

If your game needs to give free shit away to keep players, you have some very big problems that need to be addressed.

On the topic of free stuff I think players should be rewarded with Veteran weapon/armor that they can wear and adorn. And Blizzard also have a Veterans Day holiday in WoW to remember these players.

When wearing said gear you provided a buff that smells like vanilla icecream. When going through th le towns and cities guards and npc salute you with respect like that Onyxia escort quest - serving your country strong!

Subscribing to WoW since vanilla - whether continuously or not; can't be a veteran if not seeing Leery Jenkins or when Upper Blackrock Spire was end game and Molten Core introduced purple tier with that and Blackwing Lair "blueberry" Battlegear of Wrath.
    100% serious btw

SWTOR does it. I would like to see something like that. But the reason why Blizzard probably wouldn't is that you can't play without subscribing...

Every even vaguely successful game with an in-game store system does it. If Blizzard is going to continue to expand the store, it's something they should seriously consider, especially as they move towards a model that will depend more and more on the store and eventually drop a mandatory subscription fee altogether, since that is what will (eventually, in years' time) happen.

For now though, it doesn't make sense for them to do it, because there is no non-subscriber option in WoW.

That's a pretty narrow view of it. One could argue that giving "free shit" away to loyal subscribers should be encouraged as a proper part of an MMO's business model.
Not to mention it wouldn't be the first to do it nor would it be the last.
    Butts.

Yeah, SWTOR and Rift give you bonus currency for Subs, I don't mind it at all. the problem is, this and the cash store are leading towards a no no place people tend to dislike. I wouldn't mind it, personally.

No doubt in my mind that the main 'feature' of the next expansion will be that its f2p.

I don't see why they should.

Yeah I'm on SWToR at the minute and subscribed, and its a nice bonus to receive some store currency, but it wouldn't really work in wow as everyone is a subscriber.

Why would an MMO with 7M+ subs voluntarily give up $105M worth of subs a month?

A one time gift of tokens seems reasonable and could encourage people to give the store a shot. But to reward people on a regular basis seems a bit ridiculous, and based on sub length? That is silly.

I can't imagine anyone actually stopped playing simply because a few items (that aren't remotely detrimental to anyone's game play and are totally optional) have been added to the Blizz store. This cash shop feature is getting severely blown out of proportion.

Why would a company give up hundreds of millions in guarenteed revenues for a random and unstable source of revenue just to increase market share? Tell that to investors that your basically going to Vegas with their revenues and see how that goes.

On a long enough timeline, sure. Come this next xpac? Kinda doubt it.

SWTOR does not really do it in the sense that in SWTOR you can play without subscribing which you can't in WoW. So the only real free stuff you get for playing is the credit from having an authenticator.

for those citing SOTOR and Rift doing so should be enough of a reason that blizzard should also do the same. BOTH those games are free to play. you dont need to pay a sub for them, so they need to entice people to buy stuff or pay a sub every now and then.

Would be cool to see but I doubt it. Consider this do we currently get the cash shop mounts or pets for free, Nope. It's extra content they are selling for extra profit. Content that none of us really need might I add. EXP potions, extra mounts, and more pets. All extra and not needed.

I think it would actually take an entire expansion to convert to free to play, it can't just happen at launch considering how the next expansion has been development for a while now.

At the very least we're two expansion from them going free to play, though I think it will take longer than that.
