I genuinely feel WoW could learn from GW2

This isn't a game v game thread btw!

For example the mob tagging and material nodes in GW2 is perfect. It's impossible to steal kills or nodes in GW2, because of this players aren't discouraged to help each other because each player gets an equal share of loot. This creates a friendlier and more cooperative community, example if you die in GW2 or attacking a powerful mob you're guaranteed somebody will help. I realized the importance of this the other day when me and a friend was battling a rare elite, two others appeared but didn't help, they saw us losing and instead waited for us to die so they could take the kill for themselves... I genuinely believe if Blizz made all mobs like those rares on Timeless then I genuinely believe the WoW community would become more helpful and pleasant

    GW2 and WoW work differently.

    With loot and exp system.

WoW is fine how it is.

How so? Exp in GW2 is identical to WoW... As for loot the only difference is each player gets unique loot, similar to Timeless rares

GW2 there are alot of teamplay events going on to get some exp/loot.
While in WoW, you can do basicly everything alone outside dungeons, and there is everything shared already.

These teamplay events would essentially be same as rare hunting or World bosses in WoW...

I think Blizzard prefer the competitive side of gameplay.

too bad the 6000 people who have quit per day for the past 3 years don't

their story should increase tension between factions, in reality the gameplay increases tension between everyone. your own faction shouldn't be competition. that's not what a faction is

But it's already here on Timeless Isle... There's nothing competitive about stealing kills/nodes

Pfff I always try and help someone in trouble in wow by throwing some heals, taunting the mob off them or just dpsing it.. Unless it's the opposite faction on a world boss on a long respawn in which case I hope they wipe.

I doubt that's the single reason that everybody quit for, but I do agree, to me it doesn't really encourage competition. It just encourages rude behaviour for most.

Yeah must be rough for an MMO who makes hundreds of millions a month to be so active after 10 years......... Lets see where GW2 is in 10 years?

you know gw is still active after 8 years right
you act like most mmos don't stay around forever
gw2 will certainly be around and active and wow has ALWAYS used their own specific definition of "subscription" to artificially inflate numbers. half of those peak 12,000,000 subs were in asia, where they pay by the minute for gametime, where if they log in for exactly 1 second per month, they count as a sub

what blizz is doing now is not only "not working", it's literally driving people away at a rate never before seen in gaming. they either change it up fast or they lose everything in a couple of years

if bobby kotick can escort the main guys from Infinity Ward (creators of COD) out of the office as he fires them, he can damn sure do the same to anyone from blizzard

blizzard seems stubborn at this point and has since wotlk. they went as far as saying that the players made their own bed in mop. they blamed their customers, saying they listened to us, even though they constantly remind people on the forums that they listen to them but take everything into account before deciding something

well, except all the bad stuff, that's our fault

Honestly MoP is WoW: GW2 edition for me.

They added AoE looting, a new tagging system, and dynamic events. All of which were big things I liked from the newer MMOs.

keyword there being 'fine'. Not great, not outstanding, or even exceeding expectations...

it's merely 'fine'. It could be improved and made better.

WoW has had some of the tag system at some of the times. I'm curious which elite it was- the thunder and time island ones will just get a little stronger and then split loot, and the ones in main Pandaria should be trivial for two 90s. Were you not 90, or were the other folks opposite faction?

WoW is already making changes in this direction, but they don't want the idea that everyone is some massive raid tagging mobs and aoeing them down, which is a 100% legit fear.

I used to be the same until I realised how ungrateful a lot of people were after helping them. I mainly just stick to helping friends now.
