How long does it take to get to max level?
Is it a long grind to get into raid content or relatively basic?
How's the PvE in terms of fun/difficulty?
How's the PvP?

1. Not long. The levelling story is fun in and of itself though.
2. The grind is relatively short to become raid ready. There's lots of catch up mechanics that allow you to get starter raid gear. Dailies, 4-man instances, etc.
3. I find it lots of fun. In difficulty, it is in middle of WoW. It doesn't really have the very easy level of LFR or Flex, but it also doesn't have the very high end level of Hard Modes, especially ones like H-Lich King, H-Ragnaros, etc. I would class it as scaling from slightly below WoW-normal to midway through WoW-Heroic.
4. Don't know, I don't PvP.
I can answer question 4. PVP in SWTOR is one of the best imo. I played my sniper and had a blast. The movements and feel of it is very similar to WoW.
Here is a video I made of a close pvp match a while back.

1. Its hard to determine how long it takes to level to 55, if you skip cutscenes und rush through quests I guess it can be done in about 30 to 50 hours? its only an estimate and can be quite off. if you are a free 2 play player it will take longer since you will have an experience penalty.
I think my very first playthrough has taken about 80 hours, I took my time there and enjoyed it as much as possible.
2. they lately implenented a single player quest line that will give you some basic endgame ready armor. the rest you will get from 4 player flashpoints.
How long it takes to completely gear yourself might depend on your class/role. as a tank I think you can be raid ready in a week, you have almost always instant qeues for the flashpoints so you can do very many each day. as a DD it might get a bit more frustrating because of the qeues, they are usually about 15min but I also waited once for up to an hour.
the 16 player story mode raids dont need that good gear, you might easily get in a random group in the evening, and since most people already have what drops there (most only go for the commendations), you'll get much gear in a run. most of the drops are tokens, too so there will always drop something for you.
3. I think SWTORS PVE is wildly underestimated in the MMO community.
the first 2 raids the game launched with were quite boring, they looked really dull and were buggy, but the mechanics were really, really good.
at the moment, we have 4 endgame raids who look really good, the mechanics are still fun, I feel bioware tries to give every encounter something really memorable, something I missed when I raided in pandaria earlier in the year. and youe even get a top tier reward if you complete one of the 3 classic old raids each week. so there is a lot of stuff to do.
and the difficulty, the story mode raids in SWTOR are harder than the LFR in wow, you need to follow the mechanics or you'll die. the hard modes are not that hard, but there is also a nightmare difficuly in SWTOR for that.
4. PVP has always been swtors greatest strentgh, for me at least. pretty much because the classes feel and play great. at the moment there are 5 different battlegrounds + arena play and we will get spaceship pvp next month. I think this will be amazing.

3) Very fun, not very difficult. Difficulty is artificially harder because the player skill cap is vastly lower than other games. However, the encounters are engaging and interesting. I thought SWTOR raiding is an unsung hero of the game. It doesn't get enough credit.
4) PvP is the most fun I've done in an MMO. Balance isn't horrible, but it's never good in MMOs. If you like PvP, you will like it in this game.
BAD WOLF
Thanks for all the replies, they seem surprising positive for a game I thought to be dead.
Any suggestions on servers?
Do subscribers still get the expac for free? I have also been wanting to get back to playing some SWTOR for the new class story and prepare for the next xpac.
Just lvl'd my 7th char to 55 in like 3 days, though i remember it taking a month the first time around.
Must note though that back then i watched every single conversation and I didn't have as much time to play back then as I do now.
Entry lvl gear is really easy to get from a short quest chain on Oricon and you can fill up the missing parts from the GTN without spending to much.
Haven't pve'd since I came back recently since my break from 1.2
Pvp is more balanced then on any mmo i've played, though there are still fotm specs/classes but it aint even half as bad as some people claim (pointing at the "smash is OP" QQ'ers).
Healing balance in pvp needs some tweaking mainly atm.
