Equal in my book. I love both, and they are the only classes I really play. But lorewise, warlock probably has a slight edge, just because a death knight had to be defeated to become one in the first place, and had no choice in the matter. On the other hand, after the change, they would probably be almost unbeatable. So yeah, equal.
Only two choices? Granted Warlock was my first thought anyhow.
DK may be kinda icy and heartless but their state was generally against their will...so while I feel they are more badass, I don't find them to be that dark really. They may have been very caring people at one time, and perhaps some can still find a little of that in themselves.
Warlocks... nah, evil. The only actual legitimately evil class. They chose it themselves so they win in my book for darkness.
Warlock. It's hard to be more badass than someone killing you, but you don't die from it.
From a playstyle I like DK more than Warlock. However, I like Shadow Priest more than either of them.
Death Knights literally have to cause pain to people to survive. Pray you never get stranded somewhere with one. That's one of the most metal things ever.
Meanwhile, Warlocks are known to be the most despicable, evil, power-hungry, delusional people on the face of Azeroth. I mean, there are people among the ranks of Warlocks who've sold their own souls (or sanity, even) for more power. Granted, this is because fel magic is more addicting than cocaine or even World of Warcrack, but they're still pretty dark.
I'd say they're pretty even. Each is pretty dark, grimly badass in their own sort of way. Given the choice (and going with the infinite multiverse theory) I'd say I'd become a death knight half the time, a warlock the other half.
Deathknight represent! Also see this similar thread: Which class is the most metal?
Pssshhhh, warriors are by far the most metal class. You Death Knights use death magic and shit, Warlocks use demons and magic and shit.
Warriors just fucking do it. We don't need no fancy magic when just smacking things with a sword or axe will suffice.
Plus we can wield two of your weapons at the same time. Your argument is invalid :3
Death Knights are death metal incarnate. I just remember Arthas playing guitar in the end credits of TFT and warlocks fall off competition. The bloody, messy brutality of melee always takes the cake from nervous spellcasting.
Death Knights were made into warriors of darkness against their will, warlocks are sinister bastards by choice.
Shadow Priests-->Warlocks-->Death Knights-->Rogues
Hmmm this is hard. I own both a warlock and DK, both at the same gear level and I enjoy them both but I gotta say.. nothing says evil like demon's and curses and the constant need to set stuff on fire. But then, death knights can give you man flu...
I voted warlock because I am biased:3 I love my lock. <3
Your perceptions of Death Knights are flawed. The Death Knight is not redemeed but they have free choice and choose to not be the servant of the Liche King. Thier existence is preserved by feeding off the misery of others, be that through torture, sadness, misery, anger, hatred or causing pain and death. While Death Knights have become a force for good they are not 'redeemed good guys'. When they kill their enemies they do it in the most painful ways possible, without misery to feed upon the death knight would wither and die. In such a way they are not unlike the Sha, who derive their power from negative emotions.
Death knights. I've always found necromancers to be cooler than demonologists. If undead warlock was an option, I guess I could go for that.
Diplomacy is just war by other means.
A Warlock eats steak and fruit to stay alive. A Death Knight enters a farm, beheads the farmer, throws the farmers wife in the hearth to burn and then feeds on the wailing of the children to stay alive. There is no competition.
warlock cos summoning demons>raising dead
Oh if merely restricted to warlock and death knights I'd like to remind everyone, death knights are already dead
Doesn't get any more evil.
Warlock easily. At least Warlocks actually manage to get shit done.
What has a Death Knight actually accomplished? No, not the Lich King, an actual Death Knight like Baron Rivendare or Highlord Mograine. Not a whole lot if you ask me. They look dangerous and all, but they don't leave a big impact on the world. What have Warlocks done? Yeah, open portals to other worlds, summon demons to destroy said worlds, manipulate entire armies, you name it. Just look at what Gul'dan accomplished on both Draenor and Azeroth.
