They all sound very...quiet. I guess I was one of the few people who thought that all Hunter weapons sounded fine already.

I like the change. I transmog to a bow because I dislike the gun sounds.
I like gun sound as well
Real bows make nearly no sound except a faint "fffsp"
So the new bow sound is correct.
Atoms are liars, they make up everything!
Those are nowhere near the strength of medieval military longbows. At max those would be 22 kils (48 pounds) for men, and 17 kilos (38 pounds) for women. A full strength English military longbow built to penetrate heavy plate armor typically had a draw weight almost matching a man's average weight of the time, between 130-190 lb draw weight. Something of this strength makes a much different sound to the competition bows in the linked video.

Those videos just hammer home the more accurate sounds in the OP's post.
Bows essentially make four sounds (if you count the arrows)
The Tension and release on the bow itself.
The ALMOST undiscernable noise of the shaft sliding free
The impact noise.
None of these sounds is "CreeeakkkTHHHHWPPPPPT" though. New sound is much more accurate.
I like they decided to put some effort in making new sounds. They sound good.
