Hi Everyone,

I have been perusing the Warlock forums for a long, long, time. I thought it was time I finally made my first post! I am always trying to better my playstyle. I wanted to share a Klaxxi log, to see if anyone can gleam into something I am missing or could be doing better. I just can't seem to rank on this fight! Any yes, I am padding with Havoc every chance I get lol.

This is for a friend. He says he's having trouble matching other warlocks that are of equal ilvl and he's only simming around 312k and doesn't know how to improve, some suggestions would be appreciated. For all of the fights he's using KJC and he's not sure if he should be using Archimonde's Vengeance instead.

A few things that need to be fixed. Running arch vengeance really isn't worth it as on most fights you will spend a lot of time moving around, except maybe galakras if your role is to just sit tight and nuke. If he has all the raid buffs available to him, he should consider going affliction (especially on protectors! I run affliction on almost every fight minus a few).

As for gear, there are a few items that need reworking. Cloak needs the hit reforge removed. Offhand and Ring 1 need hit reforged away from. The remaining hit you need, you make up using expertise hybrid gems. Also the 4 set is another thing he is missing, so probably best to get him that asap.

The shadowburn count seems a bit low also. Also havoc not used once on sha of pride!

I Think if he went to the 13737 BP he would be sacrificing too much mastery putting himself down to about 13k mastery, just my opinion though.

I would have him go to the 13737 point. Once you fix the reforges, you shouldn't lose too much. Always better to upscale to a slightly higher haste point than to downscale (unless you start losing socket bonuses cause of it)

EDIT: just looking back at it, unless he has BBoY available to him, and maybe some offset pieces which don't have crit on them (without dropping 2 set or too much ilvl) I would stick to 9778, it makes switching to destro a lot easier (which looking at logs, he plays more)

But I would still like some input on my overall performance on some fights to see what I could do better.

I am right in the middle of a transition from destruction to affliction. And would like some input on a couple of fights where I actually did play affliction.

One thing to note is that I didn't have my Dark Soul ready for our Malkorok kill. = why I didn't use it at the pull.

Just checked armoury, guessing you hadn't got round to gemming the new items. Would also say why you're 2% over hit cap. Other than that, once you have that in check, you will want to put a straight yellow gem in those boots, the socket bonus isn't worth going for. Otherwise, you have the best tier pieces for affliction, and you don't really want to venture to the 4 set unless you have no choice. Offset is much better stats wise. Ofcourse, don't avoid going for it, as you kind of need 4 set for destro.

If you're looking to play affliction more, you will want to go for the 13737 breakpoint with your current gear. Don't pay attention to the destro breakpoint as it really isn't relevant. You will also want to get hold of purified bindings asap, as the amplification makes a huge difference for affliction, being haste+mastery heavy.

As for logs, can't really see much wrong, except maybe need to get a higher haunt uptime, but that should improve the more haste you get. Then it's just things that I can't see, such as whether or not you track trinket procs / cooldowns etc... with something like TellMeWhen. Then it is a case of making sure you line up dark soul properly with trinket procs + raid cooldowns etc... Getting purified bindings helps that a lot, as the 2 almost always align at the same time, making it easy to take advantage of.

(p.s. your guild needs to stop 3 healing normal fights!)

Yeah, didnt really have time to fix my gear yesterday. That's why my hit etc is off. I'll take a look on the gemming again though.

I do have the flex bindings. But I was under the impression that bboy is better up until really good gear levels.

I do my best with trinkets etc, and try to line them all up as good as I can. Using WA to do it.


And yeah, we are making a transition from 10 to 25 man. So we're gearing up different people on different fights :P

I have a hard time believing I'm playing flawless. So constructive criticism is very welcome! But try to focus on the more singletarget-oriented fights, since that is where I really feel like I can improve from your pointers.

The multitarget fights is more a question about practice and nailing the singletarget fights.

could one of you lovely people help with with affliction? i've played it for the majority of this patch and i just can't seem to get the crazy numbers out of it alot of people are.

i use affdots, and had about 565 gear (at the time).

Hey so we're currently 13/14 about to get garrosh soon and my raid leader was talking about how he'd like some people to improve their dps for heroics, namely the lock in our group. He is 558 ilv yet consistently the lowest dps in our group.

I just started playing Affliction on some fights to get comfortable. Use to playing Destro only.

Hi, well first things first you are missing Synapse Springs from your gloves. Now looking at your Hellscream log. Your Immolate uptime is around 20% lower then where it should be. This becomes a bit more important when you can finally get 4-piece. You aren't utilizing Havoc the way that you should. On normal Hellscream I try to Havoc on the boss and Sburn the adds or the weapons. Your weapon damage is extremely low as well. Don't be afraid to Havoc boss and Chaos Bolt weapon if you have time in between adds. You only did 20 Shadowburns the entire fight. You can definitely get that a little higher. Also don't forget you can Havoc off an add in phase 2.1. A trick I like to do for phase 4 is to Havoc the Empowered Desecrated Weapon and incinerate the boss. This helps ember regen a ton for more Sburns at the end. I can give you a mouseover macro for Sburning adds if you would like if you message me.

Your Dark Soul use was ok. The third Dark Soul you popped without any trinkets up. Your 5th Expanded Mind you didn't pop Dark Soul with. You popped your 5th Dark Soul without any trinkets as well. I like to use AD for either an add wave with KTT or sub 20% with KTT. Otherwise I try and keep Expanded Mind and Dark Soul synced up together.

I felt like my Sha DPS was quite low. http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/r...?s=2268&e=2555 As a comparison I have done 390k as Destro on that fight. I felt like I mostly had trouble dealing damage to the adds. I think everything else was alright though I think I remember not getting drain soul off on the big add a couple times so I missed out on some shards there. I'm also wondering if its worth it to cast a few SoC and then drain soul the reflections in order to regen shards on that as well?

I was thinking maybe I should have been casting more haunts since I should have plenty from drain souling adds. Just look at the number afterwards it seemed low for a fight that has so many adds.

AD is the level 90 talent Archimonde's Darkness that gives you an extra Dark Soul. I wasn't sure if you used KJC or AD. I wouldn't recommend using unless you are real good at maximizing minimal movement.
