    LFR trolling

    I haven't done any LFR in quite a while. I pop in one today just out of boredom and there is a massive troll in there. So I make a few comments like, "dude relax, your dps is not impressive" and "can you stop being so vulgar?" and such to shut him up. I get 4-5 ppl from the group on my case calling me a "whiny bitch".

    This is what ruins the game. This is why LFR is a circlejerk of horribleness. It is the dregs of the wow community that are given free reign, and then applauded for their bad behavior.

    It's difficult for me to see immature trolling in /i and not speak up. Should I just be avoiding LFR altogether?

    instead of avoiding LFR altogether just ignore a troll when you see one, or just don't reply at all.

    You're probably right. I should probably just work on not taking the bait. Still, I just feel like this ruins the community feel in LFR and it devolves into something horrible. I wish there was some better system in place to discourage people acting badly.

    Yeah, most of the time, a few others in the group actually know the shithead and like him. Odds are, they are in vent together laughing about it. Best to just sit back and enjoy the ride. Shitheads have more backing than we realize at times.

    Feeding usually only makes it worse. If he's using foul language, just report him for language. If he's being a clever troll and just luring other people out for using language against him so he can report them in return, just ignore or votekick.

    I never understood what the appeal is to being a troll. Why does being a troll even entertain them? I think its just juvenile, which is why I almost always have trade and general chat turned off

    you should highlight the 'juvenile' portion of it.

    The best way for things like this is ignoring it, seriously.

    I remember doing the PvP part of the Cloak questline on my Hunter last week, and due to the cloak, theres a lot of pure PvE'ers in Mines & Temple, from what I remember it took 3 Temples and 6-7 Mines to get a win.

    However, there was the same warrior in the BG'S each time, and he was constantly spamming chat about shit everyone was and should L2P, all noobs etc, and not a single person, in nearly 10 battlegrounds, made any sort of reply to him, it was hilarious.

    Although on that note, it would actually be nice if people spoke in BG's other than abuse, but it's random BG's so you can't expect that.

    I haven't touched LFR for a while, and my plan for the Secrets of the Empire on my hunter after doing it all on my Warrior is, to do LFR ToT and Flex SoO, just ignore LFR SoO altogether, from my past experiences, groups in ToT have been far, far, far better than groups in SoO, so it should work out okay

    i never understood, in gaming, why 'the mob' always gloms on to the idiot dirtbags.

    do they think they are cool or funny? maybe it's a teen thing... your best bet is to ignore it, or say something completely random to steal his soapbox/thunder.

    Report -> Spamming
    Report -> Language

    They silence people without clogging up your ignore list and wipe their chat from your log completely. Train yourself, your first instinct should be to Report them, not respond. It doesn't matter if it's frivolous, until Blizzard gives us an infinite Ignore list or a Squelch (temp ignore) feature, it's the best we have.

    As much as I want everyone to stay away from philosophies like these, it's unfortunately 100% true.

    You don't understand because you are not an unbalanced 12 year old with no supervision. Being a "troll" (word is so misused, most things people think are trolling in wow are just someone being an asshole) is appealing because there's no consequence to saying whatever you want.

    If only there was an ingame feature that would block all chat from one person or people were able to disregard what others type/say. Then there is an even crazier thought do some of these things with ppl you know lowering the chance or morons and making it easier to remove them when they appear.

    I disagree completely.

    Socialize as much or as little as you want, but USE the tools at your disposal. Use your ignore list and report features and expunge the trolls from your chat log.

    You know why no one responded to the BG troll in Toiran's example? Because Toiran was probably the only one there other than the troll who had BG chat enable and even knew he was there.

    But its true. Last time I spoke up about player who was on follow in LFR (merely mentioned that he's on follow since start so it might be a good idea to kick him), he immediately returned and started talking shit about me. Reported him of course and so did one of tanks, but I doubt anything will be done. With all bots, trolls, dupers and casino scammers running unpunished I lost faith in Blizzard. It took 10 minutes to kick him because people didn't even care about him and few thought he was funny. That was worst LFR experience ever.

    Now I'm doing only flex.

    Sometimes I get envious ...

    All these people claiming to meet trolls in lfr every day every time etc.. and I still haven't met one...

    God I am soooo envious.

    IT : LFR/LFD is perfectly fine, jerks have been jerks in classic and everquest too.

    Aaaand this is why they should never have begun catering to children*. I get that your comment was mostly a joke (and this comment isn't aimed at you at all), but it's the perfect example of what I mean. For all the middle school kids and the high school kids (and the college kids who never left the grade-school mentality behind), LFR isn't a game mechanic. It's a school bus. It's a classroom where the teacher's stepped out and they can act like an asshat for all the attention they'd ever want, and the adults can't make them be quiet. Where you can run your mouth all you want without getting slammed against a wall, knocked on your ass or put in your place. It's a paradise for asshole-ish kids and socially retarded semi-adults. They're not playing an MMO to work with others or because they like being in a team. They play it because it's a "safe" place for them to try to increase their status or be what they think of as popular. WoW's gone from being a team-based game for gamers (regardless of age) to being some sort of bizarre playground for adolescents of all ages who just want to act childish to others without any consequence. To them it's just another internet forum, but instead of being ignored they can demand people's attention by disrupting the run.

    And I feel the need to add: as much as Blizzard (or any other company) likes money, they need to figure out which group they want to cater to: the gamers, or the toxic, childish forum-trolls. They've been trying to play both sides, by making things easier and easier and refusing to police their game (and refusing to take a hard stance on shitty behavior), but it's going to bite them in the ass in the long run. The first WoW clone that comes along that can minimize childish behavior and the number of assholes in-game, I'm gone. Over seven years of history vs. not having to be a virtual babysitter for some asshole's asshole kids (whether they're grown or not): no contest.

    *That may not be entirely fair; they dumbed it down to make it a little more appealing to non-gamers in general- the middle-aged, the CoD/Madden "jock" crowd (i.e., guys who don't normally play most video games much less RPGs), and the super young to whom RPGs don't have much appeal. But mostly to the latter.
