Practically every Pandaren word spoken by voice actors in-game follows Chinese pronunciation. It's safe to assume Blizzard wants it to be based on Chinese.

Except Taran Zhu is pronounced "Taran Zoo," which isn't correct if we're going by Chinese pronunciation.

No, but then again, I'm not Chinese. :P

I called him "Zuen" because it sounds less retarded.

If its supposed to be pronounced that way, why not just spell it that way? English is so stupid.

    Ive always said Zoo-En though.

X is pronounced Z at the start of any word in English, so it's Zwen

Shoe-en, with a faint "z" sound laid overt the "sh"

If only Xuen were real we could have the fun of watching him argue with people who think he is pronouncing his own name wrong.
I'm going to have to go with the giant glowing tiger and say its Zoo-en.

In every language I heard X is pronounced S or Sh. English is the only one I've heard pronouncing it Z.

Also the game pronounces it Suen. X is like a soft Sh wich is close to S. Xuen itself is a westernization of the chinese word Xue Nu which means Snow Anger. Also don't trust what you hear from voice actors because the voice actor is not chinese so there's a high chance that he's not pronouncing it correctly.

Sinse it is a westernization I guess it wouldn't be wrong to pronounce it in whatever way it would be pronounced in your language.

This is a game where most races have their own made up languages, it's entirely possible that Blizzard made their own pronounciation rules when they invented the pandaren language.

Edit: LoL it's funny to see people from english speaking countries saying that pronouncing X like an S or Sh instead of Z is retarted when the english language is the only one that pronounces it like that.

It's supposed to be pronounced "Shuwen", however I didn't realize that until I had already called him "Zuen" for months on end. I'm trying to train myself to call him Shuwen atm .

In English, yes. This is Mandarin Chinese in pinyin - romanized. So it's Shoo-en.
3 hints to surviving MMO-C forums:
1.) If you have an opinion, someone will say that it is wrong
2.) If you have a source, there will be people who refuse to believe it
3.) If you use logic, it will be largely ignored

So, if Xuen is pronounced suu-en, how do you pronounce Suen?

usually X in chinese transliterations is pronounced "sh", so i say "shu-enn".
