I never thought these numbers could be so huge.
Is it finally time for WoW to go ftp? -sorry if this is already posted.

Why should they go F2P and suffer the quality loss just because they make good money from services, pets, and mounts? That's like saying to someone that once they reach a certain level of income they should stop getting paid.

There's no reason for WoW to go F2P because people are still willing to pay the sub fee (and really $15 a month is chump-change anyway).

I'm glad to see the store doing so well, hopefully it bodes well for it's future.

They've been looking at going free-play if they can support the current content output (or a better one) just off microtransaction sales. These are close figures to figures they cited for sub gains back when the game was near its apex in terms of subscribers, so who knows. Maybe they're shifting toward a freemium-with-sub-option business model, given that pay-to-play is generally a dying model and I'm pretty sure there's maybe ten MMOs who can hump that ruck these days.

Because i think they could make more money by going ftp, and instead of 7 mill active accounts we would have 20+ mill.

F2P will never work with a game like WoW. I honestly don't think it'll ever go F2P.

The game was designed from 2000-2005, which was far before the model was introduced. It wasn't built to really ever support it, and even all of these things they've introduced still don't point to F2P.. this game, this Pay to Play game, is simply adjusting its model (not the PAYING model, but the gameplay/MMO aspect of it) to fit the current market.

No this means keep the subscription fee and more micro transactions. Why? Because people are willing to pay for them.

Thats quite a number. I do wonder how much of it is from either services, pets and mounts. And to think WoW shouldn't be ''allowed'' to ask for real money on their services and items, while they're gonna make 213 million dollar with it in 2013 alone...

Do they actually count charity pets in it aswell?

I Googled it and saw that it was a game made in Korea and i stopped reading after that cause thats al i needed to know.
Koreans can be crazy about their games so if the game is big in Korea then that amount of money isnt that strange.

Good question. I'm not sure if the Fey Dragon and Alterac Pup were fully calculated because a portion of the profits went to charity.

Why would it go free to play? Blizzard can have their sub and add microtransactions to the business model.

They probably counted the portion of proceeds that they held on to.

WoW doesn't need F2P, they could simply expand their dual system and offer more stuff, even gear for $ while still subscription based.

It's mostly from the east where they don't have the standard western subscription.
All right, gentleperchildren, let's review. The year is 2024 - that's two-zero-two-four, as in the 21st Century's perfect vision - and I am sorry to say the world has become a pussy-whipped, Brady Bunch version of itself, run by a bunch of still-masked clots ridden infertile senile sissies who want the Last Ukrainian to die so they can get on with the War on China, with some middle-eastern genocide on the side
