They ask for money to make looting suggestions? WTF.

    Nope, not illegal.

It's different from something like an in-game addon that requires a subscription fee or something like that which is very clearly against the rules. AMR is more of a companion book for WoW. They're providing a resource to you and they have premium features that they charge a fee for.

As long as they don't ask for donations in game, like Oqueue did, then it's perfectly legal.

Are they forcing people to pay? Or is it optional?
MMO-Champ the place where calling out trolls get you into more trouble than trolling.

If I knew of anyone who paid for that, I wouldn't know whether to laugh at them or feel sorry for them.

Why would anyone pay for AskMrRobot in the first place? ha

Charging money for an addon is against the rules set out by blizzard.
Charging for a service outside of the game is not.

I don't pay for AMR, or even use it, but eh it's $1/month. The sales tax that I pay on my WoW sub each month is more than that.

You know that it costs basically nothing, right? It's laughably cheap.

You mean ... You don't laugh at people who buy something that you personally wouldn't? Yeah neither do I, must be something wrong with us.

I don't pay for AMR, but some people actually want to support the developers and creators of content they enjoy so they will continue to provide those goods and services.

I know everyone likes free, and free is great, but there is absolutely nothing wrong or laughable about someone paying for something they get good use out of, whether it's AMR or an addon, or even something unrelated like purchasing that mp3 from the band's website instead of pirating it.

Because it's convenient? Enter the proper stat weights, hit the bottom, and off you go. And the other services that the site offers is convenient as well. If you want the best gear but you can't eyeball which trinket is best or you just can't remember, it's no better or worse than any other resource that tells you what's best.

I'm perfectly capable of writing something similar to DBM, but why would I waste my time when DBM is already a thing and there are viable alternatives already? Things like AMR are a resource that are there to be used, so ... use 'em. A tool is only as good as the person wielding it, most of the issues that people take with AMR's stat weights are the fault of the user, not the tool.

If you are that cheap, well, good for you.
But like Tziva said: Some people actually want to support the devs. Unbelievable, isn't it?

Mr. Robot is a cancer to the community and only encourages players to not learn. It tells them what to do, and allows them to circumvent learning WHY they are doing it.

This is a money grab they are trying to net the worst of the addicted with.
It's not illegal, it's just very VERY sad.
Let's make America GREAT again. Trump 2016.

The community whined and bitched and cried, they stamped their little feet and demanded faster expansion releases. They don't get to complain now that expansions are shorter.

I subbed so that I could easily update my gear from my bags, bank and on my character. Considering I was maining Ret, had gear for Prot as a byproduct and had Holy stuff as a far off thing to try, and I was just farming LFRs for offspecs with TI items being made every other rare. It was a matter of time spent pratting around individually selecting items or just have a tool that selects from what I have available? Considering it was about as expensive a month's sub, it's really not something that's a waste.

Mounts, pets, Xmog helms and so on from the Store? That's a waste. But to me time is money, I'd rather spend my time playing the game how I want to, in this case it was playing Ret and doing raids, rather than min/maxing items from a selection of well over 40 pieces for an offspec.
