Mighty Morphin Power Rangers "re-envison" movie being made

"In a surprise announcement, the official Power Rangers website has updated with the news that a new Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers movie is on its way.

Saban Brands has partnered with The Hunger Games and Twilight distributor Lionsgate to make this new live-action Power Rangers movie a reality.

It's still very much early days, but the accompanying press release claims that "the new film franchise will re-envision the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world".

so basically they are taking the original power rangers/zyuranger sentai series and making a new movie series based on it.

however we all know damn well they cant make a power rangers movie without jason david frank aka tommy aka green, white, red, turbo red, and black ranger aka most popular ranger of all time aka has a cameo everytime saban needs money.

and since tommy was the sixth ranger/extra ranger they can just have the main team be highschool kids and have tommy come in as the badarse adult super ranger

it makes complete sense to me that they would reboot it though. go look at the original cast. the red ranger is out of shape. the blue ranger wouldnt do it anyways considering how some of the homophobic people working on the show treated him. the pink ranger doesnt need to do power rangers. the yellow ranger is sadly dead.

out of all the rangers left the only ones who could really reprise their roles well is jdf and johnny young bosch and while johnny is an awesome dude we all know when it comes to power rangers only jdf ever has anyway real influence on whether or not he can come back and the rest are just left waiting on whether or not saban needs some extra fan money.



so we will probably end up with an adult tommy leading a team of new mighty morphin rangers. which would coincide nicely with his role in the super mega legend war where he reprises his role as the green ranger

at most we might get an average movie fueled by nostalgia used as a vehicle to sell more toys and get some money off the growing 90s kid market

I hate myself for this... But I would totally go and see a new movie, if they just throw lots of money at it, put in a half decent story and a load of crazy action I'll probably be fine with it.

i know, part of it is nickelodeons fault since they dont allow shows (or atleast non nick made shows) to have more than 25 episodes per season so in order to have a somewhat proper storyline they cheat the system by having one season be called the normal name (samurai, megaforce) then a second season called super - (super samurai, and the ridiculous super megaforce)

ive been watching super megaforce mainly for the nostalgia since they are using the sentai footage from gokaiger which was an anniversary season featuring every sentai character/ranger in history. but god is the acting awful, like i know the acting in the original was still cheesy and not that good but the newer power rangers seasons are like super mega bad :P

I enjoyed the shit out of the original Power Rangers movie from 1995. I just watched the original trailer for a heavy dose of nostalgia, and the choreography and fight scenes were actually better than some of the more modern action films.

As long as they preserve the original Power Rangers theme and feel, it should be more than interesting. I won't lie when I say the kid in me is pumped for this.

Jason David Frank? Ok, I'm in, I don't care what the movie is like. I hadn't heard about him coming back as the Green Ranger in the latest series either, which is freaking awesome.

And given the age of the cast...yeah I think I'd agree that a reboot of the original Mighty Morphin was in order. (As long as they use the original theme music, that tune is still great)

theres a good chunk of people coming back actually.

the sentai series had an event called the legend war where every sentai from every series team up for a huge battle with an alien invasion.

since power rangers films in new zealand now instead of california alot of the older people didnt think the pay was good enough to go all the way out there. but every ranger will be there atleast in ranger form.

if jdf isnt in the movie ill honestly be completely surprised. the guy is who pretty much everyone thinks of when it comes to power rangers and is still in perfect shape, if hes not in it they are basically just throwing out free money.

I can't find anything about Austin St.John (Red Ranger) being in jail. He is very out of shape though. Bringing back all of the old cast wouldn't be possible anyway though since, unfortunately, Thuy Trang (Yellow Ranger) died in a car accident in 2001.

zordon and alpha will probably be in it although the actor who played zordon died a while back.

but you really dont want the original cast back. most of them are like i said very out of shape, wouldnt do it anyways, or are sadly dead.

also you should keep in mind that with the exception of jdf all the actors on power rangers get paid VERY little. like extremely little. austin st john the original red ranger said when they asked him to come back for the 20th anniversary legend war that the payment would barely cover the cost to get there.

thats why the original black red and yellow rangers left the show, they were sick of getting paid pocket change to film 6 episodes a day and barely being able to make rent.

jdf is the only one who ever got paid well and that was because of how popular he was/still is

Not and urban legend then just not my generations red ranger this now makes me question the other rumour of the pink ranger that went into porn since that one I checked out myself when I first heard and it certainly wasn't the original ranger

I don't see why the Pink Ranger would have gone into Porn, it's possible she might have had a sex tape leak but she's had a pretty decent and steady acting career since MMPR.
