Garrosh Heirloom Confusion

My Windwalker monk got a twohand polearm while in WW spec/loot. So, I know your pain of potentially not getting the weapon you really needed before next xpac, it is random after the first.

My brewmaster got the 1h agi axe first kill -_- I gave that to my rogue that is yet to down garrosh but I hope I can get another 1h agi axe.

My warrior got 2h axe set as arms. my brewmaster also got the bow on the 2nd kill. I have the 2h axe for my warrior on a dk and I am going to hope to god I get 1h sword if i set loot to frost.

my druid is unlucky so far and havnt downed him on my priest. going for polearm on my druid and staff or mace on my priest.

Since 6.0 live till wod launch (i am guessing 2-3 weeks) will provide 100% first garrosh kill heirloom I am getting as many characters to 90 and geared enough to try and get the kill during those weeks if I haven't already gotten it before then.


I am a bit of a heirloom junkie. I have nearly every single 1-80 and 1-85 heirlooms. I have even gotten ones I may never use since I have capped toons that use that gear.

People can swear whatever they want, it's not true. It was confirmed by a blue that BoAs cannot be bonus rolled. Neither can mounts, but you'll still probably find people bonus rolling on Elegon.

Depends on the boss. Blizzard did specify that World Boss mounts can be coined. Instanced Raid Boss mounts however, as you said, can not.

Right. World boss mounts can be coined, raid boss mounts cannot. But raid boss pets can. Dark Shaman armor can't. Garrosh BoAs can't.

For those of you in this position, your best opportunity will be to get a character leveled up and as well geared as you can which has a loot spec that matches the weapon you want (e.g., Blood DK or Arms Warrior for 2H strength weapon) and try to get a Garrosh kill in after 6.0 releases. Your first BoA will be a guaranteed drop after 6.0.

Remember that the items will equalize as you level, so that once you reach 100 it won't matter if you're carrying the heroic BoA or the Flex version, so even if you only manage to get in for a Flex kill, you will still have a highly useful leveling item. I'm sure you could probably get a few friends and guild mates to help you with this project, especially if you can return the favor for them. I plan to organize some Garrosh farming nights with my guild where we use mains and well-equipped alts to carry scrub alts through flex or normal for BoA drops (sorry, I meant "normal" or "heroic").

-You either level up another character and get the right weapon for your main from flex, or start running normal and hope for the best, since the first heirloom PER DIFFICULTY is the right one for your chosen specialization.

I think if it can drop from the boss, it should be able to be coined. Too many different rules and exceptions for what can and cannot be coined otherwise.

Aye, but it doesn't actually "drop" in the classic sense. It's not shared loot, you either get it or don't. It's part of Garrosh's loot table, but you will never see a lone heirloom drop from his senseless body, among other epic loot.

I've not killed him a great many times (maybe 5 on flex, 1-2 on normal), only gotten a single heirloom, the 1 handed spirit mace (flex version) . This confused me as I was playing as a Feral DPS, but had resto set as my loot specialisation. I always thought the first one you got was for the spec you played, not what your loot spec was set too.

It actually worked out nicely for me as I had normal mode Immerseus staff for Feral DPS but only Ji'Khun LFR 2 hander for Resto. I did find it odd though.

it's your class / spec on the first one, for every difficulty (i.e. if you are a hunter then your first one on flex / normal / heroic will all be bows, and you'll get 3 bows before moving on in each difficulty), random after that.

If they downed Flex first week and normal two months after, which is quite possible, they could have that many kills.

Something that I'm curious about is if any tank out there won a shield as their spec-specific drop. While a shield is nice I guess, I would be a bit bummed if I got that instead of a sword as my spec-specific item. Not only would it be useless on any other char unless I felt like rolling a Prot Warrior, it would also be trivial when leveling as shields have a very small impact on character power.

So, has any of you tanks out there won a shield as your first item, or did you get the weapon?

I got the weapon thankfully. Shield would be awful.

Considering there's only 41 weeks of Garrosh being available on normal mode, 40 on Heroic. What this would mean is he's split this across multiple toons which each have their own chance to earn an BOA. Most people get theirs by the 10th kill. Flex has only been available for maybe 30 kills. Someone else can do that math.

So yeah, even roll protection would have earned this person a BOA by now.

Because it is bullcrap. There hasn't even been that many resets, and the bonus protection only applies to one character/difficulty at the time.

Also, you have to consider that once you start on heroic Garrosh, you are no longer doing normal garrosh, so you are basically resetting from 0 kills, so no bonus loot protection.

It's personal loot, and all personal loot obeys loot specialization selections.

Yeah, but they said numerous times that the heirloom would go to the spec you were playing.

In either case, it was only the flex one, and not all that fussed about the looms myself anyway, nice for alts I guess.

I don't care that I got the resto item, I just found it curious as their comments were ambiguous.

They could easily have meant the spec you were playing, rather than not the spec you're playing, but the spec you've opted to receive loot for. That way, as I was for example playing as a feral, they would figure I was most likely to be wanting to level/play as feral and give me the feral weapon first, then any subsequent ones are randomised.
