All right, gentleperchildren, let's review. The year is 2024 - that's two-zero-two-four, as in the 21st Century's perfect vision - and I am sorry to say the world has become a pussy-whipped, Brady Bunch version of itself, run by a bunch of still-masked clots ridden infertile senile sissies who want the Last Ukrainian to die so they can get on with the War on China, with some middle-eastern genocide on the side
SO I beat ME2
Kelly died (had no idea taking that extra minute on an anomoly would kill her.... whooooppppssss, at least I $*&#ed her too)
Jack died (dunno how)
&$&#ed Tali
Blew up the ship
beat everything other than the DLC content.
Started 3...... stuck on DLC screen....made origin account... turns out I had one because of spore..... no longer have bug of being stuck on a load screen.... conspiracy... bought leviathan and from ashes so I get all the proethan and reaper lore i need.
Spoilers inc, so I put a spoiler tag. Involves the ending sequence of ME 2
Basically for number 2 if you don't upgrade the ships components you'll have a crew death on each cinematic. If you send the wrong person(s) for a specific part of the collectors base, you'll have a crew death.
More spoilers on how to get the "best" ending of ME 2
The best way I found to make sure everyone survives including kelly is that you need to do the following things.
Upgrade all ship components
Make sure you do everyones loyalty mission and make sure the outcome ensures they are loyal to you.
Also do all the loyalty missions that you can before the assault on the reaper vessel, then do legions straight away. After that do no more missions, assault the base straight up. Or kelly dies.
On the first part of the assault on the base you need to send a tech expert for the tubes (I used tali) and someone good for command on the other team (I used Garrus)
On the second part of the assault you need a super strong biotic (Jack or Morinth/the justicar chick whose name I've completely forgotten) as well as another good leader (I used Jacob)
If you want to save all the crew you can literally send ANYONE thats loyal to you. Best to use a physically weaker character such as Mordin.
For the final portion, the assault on the reaper itself, it's best to leave all the strongest characters behind and take the two weakest in terms of combat with you, as long as they are loyal the two you take will survive, otherwise there's a possibility they'll eat a bullet.
Ah i put jack in the position you put jacob in. Also I did not start my mission soon enough poor kelly
I love Zaeed. At first I felt pretty much like you said, but once I started hearing all his stories and then of course his priceless banter at the Citadel party... he became one of my favorite characters.
RIP Robin Sachs.
Mass Effect has actually become my favorite gaming series of all time. I've done multiple playthroughs of 1 and 2, and done everything there is to do in 3 aside from actually beat it (I refuse to deal with that crappy ending).
I've been building a huge Mass Effect mod for Fallout 3, which has been a nice way of getting to enjoy the characters and their personalities in more of a 'sandbox' environment.

Appreciate your time with friends and family while they're here. Don't wait until they're gone to tell them what they mean to you.
Yeah, I found that out the hard way on my first playthrough too. But I was renegade so I didn't care that much.
Something else I just remembered that's funny and I suppose also technically a spoiler. So again, spoiler tag!
It is possible through trying really hard, to get everyone including Shepard killed. Do no loyalty missions, do not upgrade the ship and deliberately put the absolute wrong people in the wrong spot every time. Eventually Shepard will do the final cutscene sequence, go to board the shuttle joker is on, but since only joker is there and joker is fragile as fuck, Shepard falls to his/her death. Obviously that file cannot be imported into ME 3.
that just sounds like a fail save.... hahaha
I did that by mistake once. I held back on some things since I wanted to see what it would be like if say half of your team was dead. Somehow even the people I had done loyalty missions for ended up dying. Oops.
Robin also plays Serris in Galaxy Quest! Also, he's Murdock in DA: Origins, as well as the Sarachel guy in the expansion.

(SPOILERS)
For the infiltration part, send a tech specialist like Tali or Kasumi (or also Legion I believe). Use Mordin to escort the civilians (Chakwas, Kelly etc), and let Miranda, Garrus or Jacob to lead the 2nd squad. For the 'long walk' where you need a biotic bubble to protect you, use Samara. You'll be golden.
