Question Whats a good action movie?

Looking for a good action movie with lots of violence and blood. Any ideas/suggestions?

They're a bit old and I don't recall if there's a whole lot of blood but two of my all time favorite action movies are Long Kiss Goodnight and The Last Boyscout.

I suggest watching the television show Banshee if you haven't already. It is like an action movie with awesome fight scenes and plenty of violence and blood. Oddly enough I have a hard time thinking of action movies with a lot of blood. Maybe Machete or the Kill Bills.

I love Banshee so much. Lili Simmons is my girl crush.

Some older Tony Jaa stuff is pretty brutal.

Die Hard, Predator, Aliens. Basically anything made in the 80s, they may not have the awesome CGI and crap but they're so much fun even after 30+ years.

Well, if he's looking for something with, as he said, "a lot of blood", that rules out most of Jackie's stuff. Most of his fights are fairly bloodless, and in many cases played as much as comedy as it is "violence".

Jackie is great, but if someone is looking for something with "a lot of violence and blood", he's not at the top of my recommendations. That's also the reason I didn't recommend Jet Li's amazing Fist of Legend and Once Upon a Time in China in my own recommendations list.

    Guess so....

Nobody watches westerns anymore either, those were a huge thing in 60's and 70's!

Every single high grossing film from 1980 to 1999.

I mean there are a few exceptions obviously, but those were the glory days. Modern action movies tend to try to appeal to everyone and work more like dramas with a couple action scenes thrown in.

The Raid: Redemption, and presumably the second one too - I haven't had a chance to watch it yet But I think it got similarly positive response.
    Main - Spirál - Hunter

Are you seriously saying that Aliens is not an action-horror movie ?
it has all the aspects needed to make it an action movie.

Heroic main character that is seemingly indestructible whilst all others die around her ? Check
Long Action filled set pieces with loud, over the top, impossible for mortal man to do scenes ? Check
Definitive minor bad guys which get killed left right and centre ? Check
3rd act filled with gratuitous violence and the ineventible Good guy v Bad guy fight at the end ? Check

Aliens, IE the second one of the series, is not only the best movie of the franchise, but one of the greatest action movies of all time, and this can be seen when it is included in just about every "Best action movie" list on the internet.

If you're looking for a new movie then I say Lone Survivor.
