Legion Alpha/Beta General Discussion

Everything definitely wasn't only on paper in August. They were developing the expansion along with WoD back when MoP was still current content.

Well, maybe I didn't say it correctly.

You are right, Legion was being developed during 2012. But, I think they were only talking about How legions story would go into WoDs when Mop was around.

And then, when WoD was in it's alpha phase, legion was being designed on paper and characters were getting drawn and everything was going well (As seen on the looking for group documentary before WODS release at blizzcon 2014).

That's why WoD was NOT a good expac, for 3 reasons.

1. It's an AU story, so...of course it would fail.

2. Because of all that legion stuff, blizzard thought that legion should be focused more on because A. The legion is a WAY MORE interesting threat than just more orcs, and B. it's on OUR azeroth...not some...random ass planet that takes place in an alternate universe. Look, i've know half of those guys already....and our draenor is perfectly fine the way it is, destroyed...I don't care about that place...I care about my titan infused world (Spoilers....shhhh).

3. To many orcs....So....MUCH...orcs...FUCK EM! 14 months of hell, now....Iron....FUCK!

That's is not a such big concern when you dont have one starting area... if you are afraid about "bottle-neck", think how "cool" will be when you - and all the players with the same class of you - will be in front of the same NPC or at the same forge...

What does others playing the same class as me have anything to do with what I said earlier? Bottlenecks aren't a big concern because of multiple start areas? Christ you are ignorant. If a quest stalls in any area regardless of player activity and prevents players from progressing, that is a bottleneck, player activity doesn't always play into bottlenecking issues.

Not to mention, he said "early DAYS". 100+ days in of testing is not "early DAYS". Clearly was referring to early days of pvp testing. Which knowing Holinka probably means to him alpha just started. I like the guy, it's just he seems to notice pvp exists.

To be fair, considering his role as PvP designer, Alpha may as well have just started :P

I will say, i don't think there's any question about his passion for wow pvp which I think sometimes gets ignored.

Better question: why does no one call him by his Blizzard avatar name? Every other developer we mostly call by their avatar name. Celestalon for instance. But we don't say Desvin.

That is a good point. I barely remember him posting if ever during WoD's beta. Even for pvp.

I said in another thread, keep in mind legion doesn't need to launch 100% complete. Look at WoD, that was released but wasn't really complete until 6.1 and all the hotfixes in between, a few months after it launched.

Ive stepped foot in it And honestly though, its just a jump down from the broken ledge from the Dalaran flight path and its right there... Literally. I doubt theyll lock it up like they did Tanaan Jungle.

Oooo pretty. Strange the broken bridge on the tomb side isn't corrupted as well. Maybe that's just temporary. Also why are we still using WotLK boats? Didn't we get new ones in WoD?

It's much bigger than I thought. Love the area in the crevice with the fallen tower and ruins. I'm equally awestruck and terrified at the same time of the tomb of Sargeras. Black and green has quite the effect on Elven architecture.

We'd need the Dark Portal functional and flooded to do that, I bet. And on the Azeroth
side, building ships probably took more time than the Legion invasion allowed us.

Aww. 2 day delivery, it was supposed to ship friday but apparently it shipped...Sunday night? and apparently mail travels a lot over night lol.

It just arrived an hour ago at USPS so when my regular mail arrives so will it, super super super excited to read it. I know a lot of the big spoilers, but I haven't read a ton. Very excited to get a refreshing and new look at a lot of old lore, and the first look at a lot of new lore.

I hear it sets up a lot of things for Vol 2. But I think Vol 1 has the most significant things.

Yeah man. When they wrote on or before September 21, 2016, it was actually a typo. Was meant to be 2017.
