Woohoo, I got an invite. My first alpha/beta invite to any game ever!

Haven't kept up to date with anything in Legion besides having looked a bit into the (PvP) talents. Pretty cool of them to invite players specifically with PvP experience as well.

so jealous ;_; played every expansion since classic wow and not once have i had a beta invite ;_;

edit: you used to have a mage instead of a warrior and were above 2k in mop iirc

My monk was 2.2k in MoP and 2.3k start WoD.

Irrelevant though cause I actually didn't get in. I checked battle.net after seeing the front page announcement and saw Legion, having forgotten that's what live is called after you buy the expansion... :'(

6.0's ptr went up September 10, so you're probably looking at around 2 months prior to launch it coming up. Which would put the absolute earliest, around mid-April for ptr.

So ya, beta is probably first.

Don't forget to add one month of PTR for the pre-event and then one months of Pre-Event.

Unlike previous years, there is a definite and inflexible deadline likely for the pre-patch to go live. That's around May 20th.

The expansion could be out September 21st and all is still ok, but if the pre-patch isn't out for the movie that will alienate thousands of new players.

Legion Beta release date: April 12th, 2016 (Tuesday) [22 days from now]
Warcraft movie release date: June 10th, 2016 (Friday) [50 days from now]
Patch 7.0 release date: June 14th, 2016 (Tuesday) [54 days from now]
Legion expansion release: July 19th, 2016 (Tuesday) [89 days from now]

Anything later and it doesn't make sense. they need to take full advantage of the movie. Having new players play an old version of the game then throw 7.0 in their face would be an unmitigated disaster. Needs to happen extremely close to movie release.

Unless the promotion is only for the US, which would be the most reasonable to
accomplish.

That still would put beta first if we assume it's very likely the latest it's out is 1st week of April.

"most countries" don't matter, what matters is the US release date - which is June 10th. Blizzard is an American company and all their projects will be based around that, nothing will ever change this.

There's no way the movie is coming before 7.0. You can't have a huge influx of people coming into your game and then impose massive changes. The game needs the fresh coat of paint that 7.0 will give it before the movie comes out, otherwise new (and returning) players will realize that it's still just WoD 6.2.

Last I saw US was effectively less than 1/3 of subscribers, and getting 7.0 in before the movie is not a localization issue.

There's no good reason to only count the US here.

The country that matters most for the movie is China.
