Seriously though, the whole ordeal is just silly when you think about. People were afraid of the big bad Communists. So afraid that they were hunted down, hunted down for a political ideology.

Now we have people today that can't really get out of that mindset and just believe what the government sells as propaganda pieces. It was a time where our country was ran through fear and that fear was enough to make people lose their minds at the word "communism."

Communism is a flawed system but then again every system is flawed in some way. I just felt like sharing. Tell me how you guys feel, all opinions welcome.

The red scare was inevitable however, the American political establishment was utterly committed to defeating the Soviet Union, plus the series of huge setbacks for American interests after 1945 really set in their minds that there must be a vast global Communist conspiracy. By the time of the NSC-68 memo and Eisenhower we become full time communist hunters, even when we did not have to be such as in Iran in the 1950's as just an example, or Guatemala in that same decade.

Name one communist country that switched without large scale bloodshed. You are correct in your basic point but, you fail to connect the dots of what it means when you radically change from a free country to a country of slaves.

History after WW2, yes there are countries that switched to communism without bloodshed and there are countries that switched to capitalism WITH bloodshed.

Fascism in general and National Socialism in particular were created to exist as an alternative to Marxist socialism and free-market capitalism. It contains elements of both but in practice is neither as we understand them.

Yes. Yes they did. The Cubans murdered all the wealthy right off the bat. That is what all Communist revolts do. As for industry, in theory you could have a Communist country that was not also Socialist but, we have never seen one.

Read your own source. He called it socialism, but he was also very very very clear that he separated them from Marxian socialism, which is the decried evil socialism of today. It was socialism lite, i.e. the same capital socialist policy that the US uses today. Do some deeper reading instead of reading a couple of lines to believe you're correct.
