This. I think there's only one game on Steam with any form of actual H scenes enabled by default. The rest are censored and require outside patches to add them back in.

Kindred spirits. Nekopara requires you to pay extra for the H-Scene, Hunie pop has a patch. I think I also have another censored game in my library(Sakura Fantasy).

Steam doesn't allow adult content. Some games have a little bit of "softcore" adult content but are censored, for example the steam version of Hunie Pop features censored pictures instead of the originals (although you can download a free patch to uncensor it, that isn't available through steam). They won't allow any outright "adult" games.

I assume its PR reasons, don't want to be known as a porn publisher or whatever. They have no problem with developers posting patches that fix the censorship on the forum. HuniePop has it(although a few people tried to raise a shitstorm over it).


Kindred spirits on the roof is the only uncensored game on steam with uncensored sex scenes, but only near the very end(15H+ VN), and its in no way intended to be a porn game. So I suppose that sex/nudity is fine as long as its not central to the game?

There does seem to be a bit of "violence is fine but a nipple is the spawn of satan" mentality to the USA, so Valve probably holds a similar approach.

Not just them for that one I'd say.

This kind of games is much more... tricky to sell in many countries. While most countries have no or little issues with violent content, what's in some of those games is actually completely illegal in many countries (some of those can be summed up as rape simulator, and I wouldn't be surprised if that included underage). Handling the legal part of that would probably be a mess for Steam, and what they'd lose from that + reputation loss from selling those kind of games would probably not be worth the gain.

Ugh. I guess on the bright side, maybe this pushes me over level 6? I can't believe I go back to it every month, and every time I get more and more disappointed. Hell, I've never heard of any of these games. One of them has mixed reviews and looks like shit. The "overwhelmingly positive" game could be fun if it wasn't labeled as "difficult" as well. It's almost like they intended for the good games to be the ones they gave away ahead of time. I decided to keep some of them, still very underwhelming:

That's why I cancelled my sub. I wouldn't mind picking up South Park some time, but the extra cost of the bundle (over buying it on sale/when it price drops more) wasn't worth what was likely to be a collection of games I'd never heard of and probably wouldn't enjoy.

Not many of the Humble Monthly has given me a "yay!" vibe.

Magic Circle? Looks like a nice game, downloading it right now.
Definitely going for the next one too, worth it for Mad Max alone (I hope)
