I kinda like Anita. I'd like to have a cup of coffee with her some time. Not talk about all this stern genderism stuff for a change. We'd get along real good!
Exactimundo but here lies the problem. They want to force companies to do what they want to see in their games. THey don't want to do it themselves
Anita seems to share a vision of society with some of the early communist revolutionaries, particularly in Russia and China. Differences between the sexes are absolutely minimized. Men and women dress alike. Are encouraged and brought up to act as similar as possible. Sexual thoughts and desire are mostly suppressed, as they only serve to objectify and hence demean women. This sort of worldview was parodied in George Orwell's 1984.
For some reason she thinks the first step in establishing her feminist utopia is eliminating all forms of female "objectification" from video games.
It wouldn't be good enough, anyway. They'd just find something new to complain about - especially since they stand to make money and gain 'fame' through being vocal and seen as 'progressive'. Diversity for the sake of diversity just bores me and I say this as someone who would like to see more gay and bisexual men in videogames who aren't just a walking stereotype.
But if they're implemented they should just happen to be gay or bisexual because it makes sense for the character. Not just added to appease people screaming for a quota to be fulfilled.
The Destiny example irks me, because if the woman sat down the same way as the man she'd complain her legs are too far open and sexualising her...
I doubt you can win either way with people like this.
Why is so many here getting triggered by her videos? Are you afraid there will be less sexualized women in games to follow? Just watch porn instead. Are you afraid there will be less games made if developers are afraid of Anita Sarkeesian? Seems unlikely to happen. Are you angry that you are feeling accused of being a sexist because you play video games? I really don't get what's so infuriating or dangerous here. It's like you crave something to be offended about and rage about.
Why are so many people here getting triggered by people criticizing her videos. Are they afraid that Anita Sarkeesian can't handle the criticism? Are they afraid that if her arguments are refuted, that women will be oppressed through games? Are they angry that they are feeling accused of supporting a fraud or believing silly, unfounded concepts because they like Anita Sarkeesian? I really don't get what's so hard to accept or deal with with. It's like they crave something to be offended and rage about.
This was a deliberate decision on her part. She's laying down the gauntlet here. She could have just stuck to criticizing cheesecake armor and blatant fanservice, and many people would admit yeah she maybe has a point. However her vision for society is more radical, as I've said. Any difference between male and female characters which is not absolutely necessary, even such a trivial one as how characters sit, is for her "problematic" and wrong. The other thing that bothered me specifically about destiny is that she pointed out that they made their outfits look the same showing that the Bungie wanted to make the males and females equals on the battlefield, but then whined about something so trivial.
Oh the fraud has made another nonsense video, great.

Look, Anita has the right to criticize video games. She has the right to that opinion. But you can still disagree with her and point out the fallacies she make without being an asshole (i.e. threats, insults etc) about it.
I think she's severely misrepresenting video games and she commits many logical fallacies in her critique. Based on some other videos I've seen about her I dare say she's a con-artist of sorts as well.
