^That, exactly that^ ... Maybe your non-alpha players wouldn't be so salty if MMO-C or Blizz had some news about LIVE servers every now and then... But that would require content.

It's basically turned into this: "Hey, here's a bright and shiny new toy" ... "You can't play with it though, you get to play with that same worn out one, but here's all the info on how much fun we're having with the new one"...

Tell the live player base about what's going on on live.. When we can all agree that there's nothing new going on there.. then we're at least acknowledging there's an issue.

On topic: Closing down a private server that is keeping some of the wow player base motivated and interested in WoW/Blizzard (while no new live content is being offered) seems counter-productive to a good business model.

Why update a game that's getting to get into the next expansion? Makes no sense.

It seems plenty of people think the only problem with retail is the content droughts. This is certainly not the case for me, and i'd like to hear why you think more content will make the game better. Did you like WoD? Also worth noting that content droughts are inevitable with the current design of WoW.

My #1 biggest WoW regret: 1-Month sub, always, even when i played alot aswell, and almost staying subbed for 10 consecutive years. So in the end, if I had stopped playing after just renewing a 6-monthers I would still probably have saved myself alot of money in the long run haha.

Yeah, you have a good point, I didnt go into it, but I do belive it can happend before WoW's last expansion if subs keep dropping like it have and Legacy servers is a way for them to keeping the sub-fee and increase/stabilize subs, it might happend before the end. Just didnt find a good way to implend said thought into the post without making the post a complete mess for some reason, so left it out.

If it would come down to Legacy+Sub vs F2P or something, I think they might reconsider, unless they go fucking haywire with stuff in the in game shop.

I give up. It is literally pointless to try to explain to you people the difference between an emulator and the original product. THEY ARE NOT COMPATABLE. They both display the same end results (roughly in Nosts case, since it was still buggy and broken all over the place), but they do so in a COMPLETELY different manner.

Nost was NOT running on a blizzard server. Nost was NOT a WoW server. Nost was doing its best to PRETEND like it is a WoW server, by EMULATING the closest thing it could get to proper output for proper input.

And what the hell makes you think it would run on their servers? They updated the servers and the software a couple of times since Vanilla launched. They have pretty much outright stated that their original code wouldnt even launch on their new hardware. And you think that they are just going to take a random emulator and fire it up on their custom hardware and network and it will just magically work? Sorry, it just doesnt work that way.

Keep it up. You're making me laugh so fucking hard right now.

I'm getting "excitement" from a bunch of scumbags that got what was coming to them, yes.

Do you also bitch at book authors? I mean, GRR Martin has been taking forever to release the next book in Game of Thrones. And I already consumed all the content in the previous one. Should I whine and complain that he isnt releasing new content for the previous book while he works on the next one?

The Game is episodic. Once they are done with all the planned updates for the current episode, you wait for the next one. They are not required to keep adding new things to do right up till the moment the next episode ships. That isnt how this works..........

Sigh if I really have to spoonfeed this to you:

    http://www.go-gulf.com/blog/online-piracy/

-Over 75% of computers have at least 1 illegally downloaded application
-An average iPod has $800 of pirated music on
-95% of music downloaded online is illegal

There. Objective proof that most internet users have illegally downloaded a song or video at some point.

Sure, fly for a hour to get to tanaris, do 10 quests with pirates, get level 31, wonder where the fuck other quests, go to forums to seek where to level next, while being 1 shotted by literally everyone here. Such fun, such feature

A sense of fear and danger in the world? Boy I missed that feeling in WoW

At this point I don't care, so as long they leave the forums.

I don't understand what the fuck is wrong with your brain if you are bringing up illegal private servers to public. Sure when i'll get closed it'll be blizzards fault again, not the fault of whistleblowers like this dude

They host their servers in russia. Blizzard could simply drop some lunch money on any random russion thug and he would likely quite happily go break the knees of whoever is hosting the server, and literally nobody would know, or care.

Blizzard is reporting that they're having major b.net issues that may be stemming from a DDoS attack. Wonder if a Nostralius player is salty?

Aerythlea's post is at the bottom, dated January 15, 2016. As for Blizzcon, someone in this thread posted the Youtube video link with the exact timestamp, but it was many, many pages ago, and I don't remember the poster's name.

EDIT: Found the YouTube video. Starts at 37:14

What a shitty and biased info-graphic. It uses an overall numbers but exclude what the overall downloaded items are. Guess what they are? Porn that's STREAMED. Games and music actually account for a minority and it doesn't actually tell us how many people download illegal things.

That "75% of computers have 1 download" is based on a tiny survey created by the dutch. I can't even access the survey to prove it wrong... But I really don't have to. It not being available proves that it's not reliable.

I tried to look at the sources, but they all link back to the same dutch survey... Terrible sources are terrible. Keep digging, bro.

The question about legacy servers is at 37:15 or thereabouts.
