WARCRAFT talk coming to PAX east

Don't like how they keep trying to associate it so hard with the gaming community, but whatever at this point. More ears and eyes on it is a plus.WARCRAFT: A Look Inside the Upcoming Cinematic Adventure
Join director/co-writer Duncan Jones and star Robert Kazinsky (Orgrim) as they discuss the secrets behind WARCRAFT, their much-anticipated epic adventure of world-colliding conflict, which arrives in theatres this summer. They’ll reveal just how they transformed the Blizzard universe of heroes and villains who have captivated millions into Legendary’s epic cinematic adventure that launches into IMAX 3D theaters on June 10.
From what Eurogamer told us about that troll scene and this Joblo guy said they showed at Cinemacon (Orc picking up and snapping a Stormwind Knight's neck) it seems like this film will not hold back on the gruesome deaths.
Here's the troll scene description for those curious and those who want to refresh their memory:
Read more here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...l-life-azerothIt's the screaming you hear first. Starting at a low rumble, it gains in pitch until suddenly its source bursts through the wall of smoke. It feels like everything's happening in slow motion; the villagers, their faces twisted in fear as they run through the muddy streets, slipping and falling in the twilight dim. Their pursuers; an army of twisted trolls, storming the Old Town quarter of Stormwind, cackling as they rip through the crowd, bouncing from victim to victim, sparing no-one from their savage attack. There - a troll grabs some poor blacksmith by the neck, and slams him into ground. There - a dressmaker is smashed in the face with a shield, leaving her to crumple like a rag doll. It's a massacre.
Honestly, don't hold your breath for this troll scene to be in the film. The only source we have are a few sentences in an article from November. No other mentions of the trolls have been made. While I'd love to see them, I, personally believe it'd confuse the general audience having the opening scene be a troll-attack on Stormwind. It's possible that some things have been omitted for simplicity's sake.
How would it not? Imagine you're watching a fantasy film that you know nothing about - the film starts with no character build-up whatsoever, but instead some foreign race of attackers, that we know not to be Orcs by their look, attack Stormwind, a city we know nothing about... and then what? Cut to Draenor where the orcs roam about complaining about the decay of their land? You do realize this would be extremely confusing to people who know nothing about Warcraft, right? Always keep flashbacks and time-travel to a minimum in big blockbusters, and you especially do not put them in the beginning of a film like this. It would cause major confusion.
Trust me, it would. The troll attack has nothing to do with the actual film, and as such is best omitted. Duncan Jones has said time and time again that this film is as much for the general audience as it is for fans of Warcraft.

And who's to say that's how it would play out at all? Besides, it's an action beat as
well as a grand introduction to the characters. One doesn't just end it at the attack
being repelled, one continues on and cuts after some characterization occurs.
As the soldiers are chasing off the last of the trolls, the king himself stays behind to
help up a fallen civilian, with their loved ones praising their king and his knight for
their selfless bravery while damning the jungle trolls to the Nether. Then transition
to the future through a shot of Medivh standing in the street (also being praised) that
fades into being that grand statue of him we've seen in Old Town.
Easy.
Honestly, I don't like this type of characterization. It's pretty much saying "Look at our heroes, look how awesome and badass they are!" within the first minutes of the film. It feels like a more subtle version of "Show, don't tell!"
I don't want the characters shoved in my face. And I still don't understand why they would show the trolls. They mean nothing at this point of the story.
It's a lazy way to introduce the characters. Duncan Jones specifically said that he doesn't like having big battles when the audience has no emotional connection to the characters.
Of course it's in the movie. But the only reason Eurogamer knows about it is because they literally just happened to visit on the day it was being filmed. It has been speculated that it's in the movie to introduce Medivh as a heroic character (we know he's getting a statue).
This is a movie I'm looking forward to being disappointed by, I guess. I don't have high hopes, but I'm going to watch it anyway.
Of course? What makes you so sure? Honestly, if Eurogamer are allowed to share this information publicly, then we'd get mentions of them from some of the people who've worked on the film. It's not a surprise at this point. I won't buy into it - that's a surefire way to get disappointed.
Or you think Eurogamer would just go and lie about that? Because THAT is a surefire way to ruin your reputation.
I'm not saying they are lying. There's a very good chance ILM did create trolls for this film and that this scene was filmed at the time, but there's an equally good chance they've decided to omit this part for simplicity's sake - and instead decided to put it in the extended version as wickys suggested. You do know the first cut is wildly different from the final version, right? They edit and re-cut pretty much until the last few screenings.
Azera you seems to be really bothered by the trolls sequence to bring that topic numerous times. Whats wrong with the troll sequence to bother you that much?
This'll be interesting.
