1440p Issues?

Hey all,

I'm thinking of upgrading my 1080 monitor to 1440p soon.
I'm just wondering if anyone playing WoW has weird issues at that resolution? I can't imagine
any, but just want to double check. See if there's anything I should keep an eye out for.

Probably not going Gsync/FreeSync, just 2560 x 1440 @ 60hz

you might have to reconfigure a bunch of addons, but other than that.. i haven't had any problems at 1440p for uh the two years i've been playing at

I could not get mine to run without crashing for some reason, back to 1080 for now, strangely enough fallout 4 runs fine on 1440, might have to do with g-sync though, will try again when I get a Pascal card.

Do make sure you got a GPU that can handle that resolution, it may be only wow, does take some GPU horsepower, my gtx 780 had like 70-80 fps on average in garrison with lower dips.

I've had 1440p for over four years and have never had an issue. Recently switched to 1440p 144hz Gsync, and have had some issues in some games (Heroes of the Storm) due to the faster frames.

1440p is a great resolution for WoW. I could not go back to 1080p at all.

To make it clearer for you since you apparently didn't understand. There's no meaningful difference between two 16:9 resolutions at WoW, what you get is more space to throw addons around. 21:9 resolutions however, due to their wide aspect ratio, makes you see more things at the screen and therefore is arguably better for WoW.

But well whatever, no OP you won't have any problems with 2560x1440.

Yes. No problems whatsoever apart from making it a little blurry due to the upscaling.

No no, higher resolution monitors have to upscale the 1080p image in order to fit the pixels. You can't change the number of physical pixels of given display, but you can redraw a lower resolution image in order to have something to show at each pixel. The pixel ratio difference is 1.3333:1 (3840x2160 is 4 times the size of 1920x1080 the same way 2560x1440 is 4 times 1280x720) so you can imitate the phenomenon by sending a 1440x810 signal to your 1920x1080 monitor.
