Exactly how much would the price of a McDonald's hamburger cost?
Exactly how much would the price of a McDonald's hamburger cost?
Assuming that all staff is retained? Or that half the staff is let go?
maybe 20 cents more.
r.i.p. alleria. 1997-2017. blizzard ruined alleria forever. blizz assassinated alleria's character and appearance.
i will never forgive you for this blizzard.
McDonalds will be fully automated by robots.

its going to force other companies close to minimum to raise or they'll lose staff. like my job, security, will have to go to 17+/hour or they will not be able to hold or hire new workers
15$ does seem a lot though for some jobs.
Not really. Automation is going after higher paying jobs right now. More potential to cut costs since a lot of initial market testing has shown customers largely have mixed reactions to automated customer service jobs, which are at or just above min wage.

So you believe it would what, triple in cost?
2014 Gamergate: "If you want games without hyper sexualized female characters and representation, then learn to code!"
2023: "What's with all these massively successful games with ugly (realistic) women? How could this have happened?!"
Would rise of minimal wage impact only McDonald's? OR that would impact other who used to earn 15$ before rise and so on up to CEO's? And would this rise of minimal wage impact rental prices?
I dunno mcdonalds already thinks it can get 1.50 for a mcdouble, 6$ for a burger. Their is no real logic behind their pricing besides trying to gouge you for every penny they can for their horrible and toxic food products
The same, but fewer people might have to do the same amount of work now.
Big Macs are a bit cheaper atm in the US then over here in Europe. That 15$ comes pretty close to the minimum wage we have over here. So they probably get a bit more expensive. Btw when's the last time you tipped someone at Mickey D's?
Why would the price go up? They didn't go up when the CEO's compensation package went from $1.69M to $7.91M. Are you suggesting that giving Easterbrook a raise of more than six million dollars a year doesn't affect the cost of their shitburgers, but somehow giving their government assistance recipient hourly sleps another $7 an hour is going to cost them so much they'll be forced to pass it off on the customers?
Fine by me. I don't eat their shit anyway, but my taxes go to paying their employees' grocery and medical bills. Let the cost of doing business come out of their profits for a change.
$15/hr minimum wage would have little effect on big corporations and chains. Proponents will claim the mom and pop type places (under x amount of employees) will be exempt from this and thus will have no effect on them. Yet the smaller mom and pops will be hurt because they will need to raise compensation in order to compete with a $15/hr wage.
I won't argue economics, we can go round for hours about it.
Consider this: In almost every major metropolitan area(where the jobs are) Rent in a shitty apartment in the ghetto or boonies costs no less than 500$/mo. That's in almost every major city in the U.S. Getting out of the ghetto immediately pushes you up to 800-1000 a month range, and it's usually not much better.
Believe it or not most people don't have the luxury or privilege of parents supporting them. They get kicked out or parents go to jail or w/e, a young person starts out life paying more than 2/3 of their pay to be independent.
If you don't want to raise pay, then lower rent.
