Yeeeeah, I'm insanely happy that the release date isn't actually september, but I doubt they are ever going to fix the drought between expansions, like ever.

The drought that happens between expansions has been happening for a long time, it was like 1 year and 3-4 months of SoO, and now 14 months of HFC, and I believe cata had 16-17 months of DS (can't remember). The only way to get past a content drought is if they produce a patch that has relevance while waiting for the next expac. That's the only way I could see us dodging a 14 month wait time, possibly reducing it to half of that if we had a patch during the drought.

It was only 9 months of Dragon Soul. This 14 month wait will equal the 14 months of SoO. ICC was 12 months.

Dragon Soul also became stale as shit far, far quicker than ICC did.

The Pre Patch for all we know could be around 2~ months long. The build up with Cataclysm's pre-patch was pretty long if I remember correctly. Could have the invasions begin about 2 months prior, then Broken Shore happen the month before, then DH release, etc.

That is true. It would only seem like a logical move to release it before or with the movie when they will be having a flood of new players joining. Also makes me wonder if they have more content yet to release. 4 and a half more months seems like overkill with the amount of testing they have done already. But I am not in alpha so I am just judging by what I see.

Ah my bad, forgot the DS wait completely, probably because it wasn't nearly as bad as the SoO wait. The 14 months of Soo and now the 14 months of WoD is pretty bad. Would love to see a content patch during the content drought, maybe 2-4 months in so people can finish up HfC, then start the new content patch after. That would reduce the wait time with nothing to do by a huge amount as long as the content patch is meaningful.

I think the point is more-so people every expansion expect releases to be quicker, but they're not.

However, I blame this one on the fact WoD had only 2 major patches. If they had had one more raid that released, I dunno, end of 2015, it'd be an entirely other story, but they didn't, and here we are debating semantics.

My point still remains, you can literally just unsubscribe and wait for the expansion while doing literally anything else. It's like people are tied to their chain with a gun to their head, needing to play WoW, so no new content makes that play time really boring, but they have no other choice.

Well two days later it will be September. Not much actual summer left on the 30th of Aug.

Summer ends on Sept 21st. almost a month of summer left on Aug 30th

Pro strategy is to take off Wed- Fri. Servers will likely be a mess Tuesday night in Tuesday afternoon and then Labor Day on Monday. 6 days of non stop Legion FTW

For sure. They just need to rub a bit more salt in the wound lol. Lets just hope that maybe they will put the pre-patch content out far in advance so we can play around with our revamped classes and such. Better than nothing.

Coming and going, too. 5.4 was basically WoD's warming up period and 6.2 is still "Let's help Grom get his groove back - the animated series."

I have to ask why. Why is it going to take them that long? All classes are in now. Most raid bosses have been tested once. World questing is in. They only need to open up Suramar and the other half of the broken shore. And its going to take them 4 and a half months? Why?

To make sure everything's balanced, tested, and right? They do the same thing every expansion. This is nothing new.
