what's the opposite of a connoisseur? cause I'm that when it comes to pizzas. I cannot recall a single instance when I disliked one, that includes all 1.99E frozen ones.

There is no "American style pizza" that I'm aware of. We categorize our pizza's by city. NYC thin crust pizza. New Haven apizza. Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Etc.
I've been to several pizza shops that have legitimate Neapolitan pizza baked in coal ovens, grilled pizzas, Sicilian style pizza, Greek style pizza, etc.

The whole thing behind frozen pizza for most people is it's cheaper and faster than making one yourself.
I like to make pizza from scratch too, but I also eat the frozen ones because meh, people at my house work all day and sometimes it's just easier and cheaper. Not everyone likes to come home after 12-14 hours and make a pizza from scratch.
Whoever says "American style pizzas are nasty". I guarantee you, your country has nastier food.

I like Red Baron every now and then. Tombstone used to be pretty good when I was a kid but now...I'm not sure if the pizza changed or if it's just me.
Do they come frozen? Because I think we're talking about Tombstone, Red Baron, etc. There are a couple local frozen brands that do a good job. Or I can grab a take-bake from some grocery stores nearby (much better).
As far as the rest, I've lived in NYC. Fuck no, can't match it frozen. And Chicago. It's not pizza, but whatever. And where I am now, yes, I have legit Neapolitan pizza cooked in a 900F wood fired oven, and it's excellent. But, that wasn't the question.

We have a local NYC styled place here called Romas that does the Neapolitan style pizza. Best hands down.
