In the novel War Crimes, he helped orchestrate Garrosh's escape, then in WoD, we've almost seen nothing of him... I think there was mention of him in some Alliance quests, and maybe he had a minor appearance in whelp form? What the fuck Blizzard?
I actually kinda liked his interaction with Anduin in MoP, it gave both characters some depths, something especially Anduin needed (and still needs).
Now with Legion, I haven't heard anything about him yet. Finally the big bad Legion that he warned us about is invading, he's gotta show up right?

I guess Legion spoilers:
Wrathion shows up in Highmountain around Neltharion's Lair where we find some non-corrupted black dragon eggs.
Can't recall the exact situation but it's something like that.

From a thread a few weeks ago, he was removed. It's officially just a uncorrupted black dragon.
