I need to rant,.. windows 10 is crap and I wish I never installed it

Just got a new PC, installed Win10,. frozen OS about 5 times before even having drivers installed.
    Not happy.

Has anyone got any issues with windows 10 randomly freezing up and requiring a reboot?
So far I've yet to find a proper suggestion what may be wrong,. I know it's not the SSD as that was the first thing I unplugged.
Motherboard settings perhaps,. or windows default network drivers,... so many things that get mentioned on the internet it's hard to pinpoint a proper solution.

Whole story with background here: http://rrvs.blogspot.com/2016/04/the...a-that-is.html

update: works now,. took a week of extra research, swapped cables, other Hd,. and a few firmware upgrades but it's running. finally.

Did you do a fresh install or did you update from another OS?

I personally did a an upgrade to begin with and decided do do a fresh format + install because I heard that runs better.
I had Windows 7 before, which I enjoyed, tried Windows 8 and went back immediatly. Windows 10 is good for me atleast, no crashes or other issues.

Had some problems with OS Freezing up, but I had that on Windows 7 aswell. Problem was the Nvidia HD audio driver which I uninstalled and keep away from my pc now.

Clean fresh install,. no update or conversion.
usb stick, new partition the whole deal.

just brought it to the store in the hope they can evaluate what the issue might be,.
he'll run some scans, update firmware and basically save me a few weekends of cursing.

I had some random crashes when I built my new PC last summer with windows 10, found that my motherboard had some trouble recognizing my RAM, updating the bios fixed it, had little to do with windows 10, probably something similar in your case, you just need to find what is causing it, looking at win 10 and being "sure' it is the problem will not fix it if it is not the problem.

I dont think Windows is the problem. Check your hardware.

your computer is just terrible, hardware is probley broken.

Installed windows 10 on 3 machines and never ran beter. (except my dieying notebook wich is sad, 6 year old still can run WoW on ultra but MB or graphic card is dieying)
its funny if I get it boot up and run wow it wont crash

before you complain on OS, its last thing that is broken on new computer after clean install, check your hardware thats probley where your problem lies.
    Then check your drivers.

if all fails, trow it out of window and never buy a computer again, because you cant handel it

Haven't had a single problem myself. I was very hesitant about it but I'm happy I took the plunge, I love it.

Windows 10 should be avoided like no tomorow. Do not go above 7. If you value your privacy at all, ditch 10

The thing about the privacy is over rated. Windows 10 has several options to allow data to be shared on a more intimate level with Microsoft. The thing you really have to look back at, is how much has Microsoft hid from you about prior Windows versions and what they did in the background as well. The big thing you have listed is true, you need to disable all of those options they have available, Windows 10 is not exactly there for the novice user.

I have installed Windows 10 on this machine (Alienware m17x R4) and have been running it since the day of release. I upgraded from Windows 7 Ult, then wiped my SSD and installed it fresh. Guess what, some of the info that is shared allowed Windows 10 to automatically verify that it was mine (by checking my system info and authenticating it) and has not blue screened once. The only times it has shut down is when I messed with some settings on my GPU, a 680m, overclocking it and pushing it a tad past what it should run at (stable at 1050mhz Core, stock is 719mhz, tried 1100mhz and BSOD'd).

Overall it runs more stable than Windows 7, runs a bit quicker and overall better.

But as for your problems and reading what you have linked, the hardware looks rock solid. The issues you had all sound like Windows 10 being installed over Windows 7/8 but as you have said, you did not install over an old version but did fresh instead.

When I did the fresh install for myself I did things a bit differently, I am on a laptop though so it will vary somewhat.
    1) Installed Windows 10 Pro via USB (64bit Pro)
    2) Kept running Windows Update until every single update was completed. This took a few boot cycles on release to complete.
    3) Installed current Wifi drivers to enhance stability, amazingly enough Win10 HAD wifi drivers that worked while Win7 did NOT.
    4) Installed current GPU drivers, also amazingly Win10 had drivers that were really close to Release drivers from Nvidia.
    5) Installed CPU/GPU monitoring and overclocking software to control things better.
    6) Went to Dell's website and picked up two updates that were needed.

Aside the minor problems I have listed are all I have suffered, and its very very minor.

Against my better judgement, I did a clean install of Windows 10, after having previously used Windows 7 (fuck 8). Completely wiped the hard drive, installed Windows 10...and I haven't had a single issue with it yet. As a matter of fact, my computer runs faster, I've had fewer game-related crashes, it's been great.

About the only drivers I had to download were for my GPU. Everything worked out of the box, so to speak.

Exactly, It was by far the cleanest install I ever had. This is talking all the way back to Windows 3.1 and stuff like OS/2 Warp.

Windows 10 sucks, avoid it like the plague.

People saying privacy is unimportant are really naive. You can't actually disable Cortana for real, and even if you didn't care about privacy the stupid program is a huge resource hog. You can "turn it off" but it still runs in the background. To remove it you have to disable a service for geographic location that will then cause a cascade of fuckups across your system. Disabling said service actually deletes it and it cannot be restored without a reformat.

All of that plus it looks like the bastard child of Apple and Android. A toddler could puke up alphabet soup that is more attractive than that crap. Then they remove a plethora of advanced options from all sorts of programs to appeal to a market that doesn't care about Microsoft anyways. Gotta sell those Surfaces though!

Why do you care about your privacy? Do you have something to hide?

Also you can turn off all the "privacy snoopers" if you want. Some through Windows itself, some with programs from the internet(that edit registry).

    It's the porn, obviously.

In all seriousness though, it is a little creepy and weird how all these programs can remember just about every damn thing you ever typed, in a "huh? when did I search for that?" kind of way. And honestly, I kind of wish they would just drop these voice recognition programs, they're not that convenient to use anyway and it's impossible to use them when other people are around without looking like a complete tool.

Cortana is just Windows search with a different name, it's still extremely useful even if you never use it with voice.

You do realize that all of the privacy infringing things W10 does have been patched in to all previous versions of Windows that are still supported right? I mean, I guess you could run W7 without the updates, but then you are leaving yourself open to other security flaws that are potentially even worse. So meh.

Also, if you want to be able to use DX12 when it starts becoming more of a thing, which it will, faster than any other previous version, you -need- W10, as previous versions will not support it.

Windows 10 is actually pretty good, I just dont game anymore and prefer Ubuntu, which just released 16.04. And if I do want to game, I would just use Steam through linux.

Windows 10 rules, if you want to stick with 7 do so but in a few years it's going to be even more dated than it currently is with lack of drivers support and missing things like new directx support. I remember back when people wanted to stick with XP even when Windows 7 was out. Your going to end up like one of those people at some point if you refuse to switch.

You don`t have to have something to hide to warrant having privacy.

As for the turning things off, they even state in their EULA/ToS or wtf that they can (& will/have done) turn things back on as & when they want, even if it fucks with your system & doesn`t warn you that it has done so.
