I don't mind public speaking, when I speak about something I like. But not when it is just explaining some boring experiment to a large room of students mostly playing with their phones and not paying any attention to you...

No one. I don't play WoW any longer but my brother talked me into going to a couple midnight release for TBC and WotLK way back when. All stereotypes were largely confirmed, the socially awkward, the pale as a ghost unathletic nerd, the obese middle age guy with a nasty beard and a dragon ball z shirt, the scant few women were no better than a solid 4, maybe 5 at best.

Well, I would imagine it would be a bit more fun on speech courses, since they are, well, about speech.

I've done a few speeches I really liked in the past. My favorite one was, probably, a semester worth study on galaxies. 30+ slides, each about something fun!

But the recent 3-4 years... It's usually been dull reports on experimental results, that are just a bunch of plots and tables. Plus, TA assignments in labs or regular classes - those are the worst, I'm really not made for teaching.
