Artifact relic question

What happens when we equip a relic for a trait that we have not yet invested any artifact power in?

I'm assuming it just appears as 1/4 then? Or will the system simply not generate any relics for you in which you have invested in?

Yeah it appears as 1/4. But doesn't light up the connections to the next artifact talent if my fuzzy memory from doing this on alpha is correct.

Relics have specific traits that they affect, they aren't random.

And yes, if you equip a relic for a trait you don't have it will give you 1/4 for that trait.

Only full slotted traits allow for acquisition of the traits connected to it IE: 3/4 Traits with a slotted relic will not allow connections.

This might be a cool patch up mechanic for their intention of slow progress on artifact progression.

Artifact progression isn't really slow... it just takes spamming dungeons.
