The Naaru aren't a link nor they are supposed to be siphoned and deprived of their own energy like the Blood Knights did.

What Blood Knights did was fucked up and not in line with what standard Light-wielders does, that's why they got a redemption story.

Well, it's not like your Blood Knight was much different at the core. Still the same Light-based spells, the only thing changing was the player's own perception of feeling "edgy".

But the real problem was, Naaru are like freaking batteries. Once you expended them, you're out of Light juice with some huge-ass Void creature wrecking your city. Not good.

A Naaru is pretty much a whole crystal of condensed Light, it has Light energy by its own and can indeed empower people with it, but it does not change the fact that Light-users don't use Naaru as a "source", the powers they usually channel don't come from them, from the Loa, Elune, An'she or whatever.
