Dwarves and swords?

I think the implication is that axes/maces are heavily thus take more strength to wield.

While swords are more agile and lightweight.

Its the same reason why your never really see Tauren, Orcs or Ogres wielding swords.

Its all about body density, even in real life. Stocky builds have the arm strength and recoil resistance to do the most damage with a blunt object. Swords require agility and finesse to accurately do damage to your enemies (Because again in real life, a sword swing does little damage to a heavily armored man. You need perfect accuracy and speed to slice specific gaps in the armor like necks and armpits). With a mace or hammer, the full blow from it will cause a lot of blunt impact damage regardless of armor and serves to knock people off balance. Try to pound a nail with a knife.

Tauren use blunt objects like totems and two-handers as their primary weapons as well because a 900 lb. bull slamming on top of you with the upper arm strength of a silverback gorilla is going to hurt way, way worse than a sword slicing into you.

I think the Tauren use objekts like totems as their primary weapons because they are not very proficient with metal-forging.
