Phones....ughhh....those type of games wont look good on them.

Unless you are planing to buy a very expensive smartphone, current ones are just for 2D games.
    Don't sweat the details!!!

The problem is not the power of smart phones, even very low end ones out class the 3DS easily. The problem is smart phones games are made on far lower budgets then real games. Miitomo does nothing to make Nintendo will do anything but follow that same trend. Also touch screen only controls are shit in general. Low budget, touch screen only controls = they're whoring out 2 beloved franchises to make bank off of the Japanese smart phone market which is huge.

Yeh..not a fan of touch screen either. If its like original fire emblem with small icons...it will take 5 min to move units per turn. Buttons are just better for those games.

I said this in the games we regret buying thread that I felt the touch screen controls for sub menus were awesome in both Wild World and New Leaf. What's going to be the issue is the actual controls.

Animal Crossing mobile designed to work and interact with a dedicated version of the game.

Hit the nail on the head, touch screen controls are great as an added option for inventory management and navigating menus, but terrible for live gameplay.

Not something i'd play but i could imagine Animal Crossing become a cash shop monster.

Hopefully that wont mean no future 3DS/NX versions though, but you never know, if the mobile versions end up making more nintendo end going more of the konami route than the traditional console stuff in future, who knows.
