Unforseen twist: Russia joins NATO

Warning people about natto is understandable!
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.
That tends to happen when you start annexing regions like Crimea. The last time the world community was quiet about a country annexing regions was when Germany annexed Bohemia et all back into the Empire. Didn't turn out to be a good strategy to shut up and let Germany do what they want.

Sweden has a zero percent chance of invading Russia under basically any conditions. Russia building up their forces to stop the Swedes is pointless to the point of insanity.
Now the Finns...that, they should be scared of.
After the Russians had it? Nah man, they can keep that piece of trash. It's ruined now. Or give it to Poland. I mean it's surrounded by Poland anyway, it makes sense for them to get it and incorporate it into their natural borders. Far more sense than having a German enclave again.

Threats like this are a bit stupid though. It'll make a lot of Swedes consider NATO as good alternative to that "big bully" in the east.
Russia would have been better off saying nothing.
Most of all that comes out of the Kremlin in regards to foreign policy (both words and actions) is, ultimately, targeting the domestic audience. A blunt way to put it is that Putin wants Westerners to fear and hate Russia, and vice versa. Provocation leads to condemnation, leads to further animosity. No matter who's at fault or what's the nature of it, provocation of any kind in any scenario ultimately serves Putin's interest of channelling Russia's hate/fear towards the foreign.

Well, we could do it. We've done the same with the whole lot of Eastern Germany. But why would we do it? German Russians are a notoriously aggressive bunch of fucked up kids outright refusing to integrate. I mean people are talking about Muslims integrating and how refugees don't fit in here... but German Russians? They make every refugee Muslim look like a model citizen.
Bankrupt us? Nope. But there's absolutely 0 public support for importing Russians like that.

Exactly this. Joining NATO would be absolutely, utterly stupid; it would cost us money, make us a more prominent target for all kinds of terrorists, could drag us into some far-away conflict, and would be a hostile act against our biggest neighbor, freezing bilateral relations and causing us massive economic and other kind of damage. Luckily, the majority of the Finnish people are intelligent enough to say no to NATO.
Ha ha ha yeah these arm-chair warriors are so tough
Russia already has IKEA, no reason to invade.

The threat comes from Sweden, if it adds itself to an anti-Russian hostile military alliance, Russia is just informing that it will add Swe to list of countries it will need to counter to ensure Russia stays secure. Sweden can choose to remain neutral and most people seem to favor that, so there is no real threat methinks. Ofc the Russophobes will twist words n try to make it seems like Russia is reacting for no reason.
Lavrov? Wasnt that the crazy Russian clown who wants to bring back the Soviet Union and has no real power to threaten anyone?
That's ok. People believe in all sort of factless crazy shit. Bearded men in the sky, virgins in heaven, alien reptiloids... You think Russia can actually invade Europe, Its a free world.
