New Canipa studio spotlight on PA. Just seeing some of those scenes from Hanasaku Iroha got me teary-eyed. Didn't know the festival wasn't a real thing until after the anime.

At least you're not playing a C'Thun deck.

    C'thun! C'thun! C'thun!

    Or, as my friend paraphrased:

    Kaboom! Kaboom! Kaboom!

Yeah, thus far my experience has been that Priest and Hunter aren't doing so well at first. However, I think Priest will recover. They always gravitate toward control-ish reactionary decks, and in order to be reactionary you have to know what will happen; right now with the new set just out it's very hard to do this. Hunters on the other hand lost a lot of their early game (Webspinner, Haunted Creeper, Mad Scientist) and didn't get anything to substitute. Infected Wolf is okay and Call of the Wild is great, but those both come just a bit later. For now it feels like Hunters just get completely overrun by Zoo Warlock who do what they used to do...just way better.

That does look pretty fun. I don't own the new Ragnaros, but otherwise I'd be set. I'm just a miser with my 9k dust.

I'm hoping that the pure C'thun decks will die down a bit in favor of hybrid C'thun decks. That is, decks which use C'thun as a potential finisher or an extra punch at the end, but not as the end-all-be-all of the strategy. For instance, I'm fiddling with my Tempo Rogue deck which got me to rank 4 season before last; I'm thinking that just incorporating a few of the C'thun cards (the divine shield and the 2-damage battlecry) along with C'thun is enough to make him functional for my needs.

As for actual anime discussion in the anime thread, I recently found some fan-made trailers on YouTube.

I know it's in English dub rather than sub, but I was quite impressed with how well the trailer was constructed without actually giving anything away. This person has done a few other series as well (I rather liked the Hellsing one).

Speaking of SSY @Neichus, you praised it heavily and were one of my reasons of starting it, but fuck man, it's just so boring and not fun to watch. After 7 episodes I've stopped watching, I may pick it up after this semester ends and I hope it gets better.

Yeah, I saw a few people commenting that they thought it was unengaging. The friend I tried to watch it with also veto'd watching it after about half the series. He just thought it was a boring story about some kids.

Speaking for myself, the reason I like it so much is because while I think the story is strong in its own right it's the underlying world building. How do you possibly create a society in a world where everybody is telekinetic and can even mold reality with their minds? What kinds of sacrifices would have to be made? How does the logic of their world reflect the same rules and logic that governs our own? That to me is what pushes it over the edge from good to great.

Looking over the episode summaries, 7 only begins to scratch the surface; they've had their first adventure, but let me say that the implications of it are much more far-reaching than you would expect.

That said, I'm never an advocate of watching something against personal inclinations. I did that to myself with Bakemonogatari, and I've had nothing but pure hatred for the franchise ever since.

That's what I've done. I've been running Handlock (which is the only deck I play :v) with a C'Thun and a few buffers (Beckoner, Usher, Disciple, etc), and it works fairly well. I use them mostly to stall and wait out for my bigger cards, and they're good fodder to get out a Sea or Mountain Giant early.

Side-note, but dropping a 17/17 C'Thun for 0 cost is great (Wilfred OP).

I think with this latest chapter I know what happened at Yamada...

If everyone from the school lost their school-related memories of their first year, someone probably made an announcement about the witches and revealed it making it public.

The rule is that if you learn about the seventh witch you should get your memories wiped right? Then this seventh probably just erased everyone...
