    or when he picks first: "screw you, I want to choose a mon first and you can have/choose between the others"

    I liked yellow where the rival got an eevee and depending on your win/lose ratio it evolves to a different mon and not always the same

    Someone on Reddit posted their artwork for fake starters - a Grass/Dark terrorbird, a Fire/Dragon Tiger, and a Water/Fairy manateeeventhoughitlookslikeaplesiosaur - and asked what the ReddiTrainers would choose. The overall consensus was "You ask us to pick a starter when there's a fucking FIRE/DRAGOON TIGER?" But seriously, they look amazing.
